Why Do Some Cyclists Run Red Lights?

I am trying to understand something in life.
Why do some cyclists run red lights, and perhaps do other things that contravene the highway code.
I know there's an excuse of some cyclists feet are attached to the pedals, or that it takes a lot more effort to pull off from a standing start, but then a car is the same, with the latter anyway!
So just wondering why some cyclists think it's okay?

It's just natural selection at work0

For the same reason that some car drivers think it's ok.0

Plus they don't have the disadvantage of a registration plate that might be traceable
And they know that it is incumbent on other road users to do their utmost not to hit them.(which applies to the car drivers doing it as well)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

To get someone to begin yet another cyclists vs drivers thread...?0

Because a lot of traffic light installations are over-engineered?0

I find it odd that the highway code covers bicycles yet the cyclist has no requirement at all to even read it.
Not a serious question but...Why should a cyclist know what a red light even means if there is no requirement for any kind of learning qualification?0 -

I saw a traveller on horse and cart going through town once. Cut up a car, went through a red light and over a zebra crossing with people crossing, all without a care in the world.
Bet he's never even heard of the highway code.0 -
And what is it with buses and taxi drivers... They just cruise through red lights willy nilly...
Oh and while I'm here, foglights..........
Cheers0 -
as others have said for the same reason some car drivers think its ok.
The reason more cyclists than drivers go through red lights is simply because the consequences of getting caught or causing an accident are generally more serious when you're driving0
