hi all. finally got a morning to myself to sort things out. Well I've ordered the tickets from theatremonkey. I didn't want to risk going there and not getting good tickets being that it is the sole purpose of going there. So, I've paid full price but got really good seats. Row E - fantastic.

Found coach travel through National Express for total of £36 return for us both.

I think I'm going to get one of the top secret hotels from lastminute.com so we can have a bit of luxury. Probably pay about £100.

Just trying to decide whether to get a hotel near Victoria (where the coach goes to) or near the theatre (Dominion on Tottenham Court Road). Finding it quite difficult to figure out the cheapest way to travel within London. Anyone any ideas? Obviously we will have to either travel to the hotel near the theatre from Victoria and then back the next day or travel from the hotel near Victoria to the theatre and then back the same night.

Also, does anyone know of any 2 for 1 meal offers or similar in the restaurants in the vicinity (of Victoria or Theatre depending where we end up staying).

So total cost so far is as follows:-
    tickets £120
    travel £36
    hotel £100
    = £256
    plus meal and London transport

    Thanks everyone

You can use the bus or tube but I prefer the bus after the bombings. Look at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/gettingaround/maps/buses/pdf/victoria-2277.pdf or
    http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/colourmap.pdf

The Dominion theatre is at Tottenham Court Road.

Bus travel is £3.50 for a day's bus pass. DO NOT PAY INDIVIDUAL FARES as they are extortianate because they want us to use Oyster cards.

Buy a single stop rail ticket from Victoria station e.g Victoria to Waterloo and this will give you 2 for 1 at some restaurants

Have a good time. I have seen the show 3 times and love it but then I am a Queen fan.

hi. thanks for that. I was actually just looking at that 2for1 site but none of them appear to be valid on Saturday nights. I will have a look at the bus times etc now. thanks

    OK think I'm finally sorted.

Just been looking on the tfl.gov.uk link. I can buy a book of 6 bus tickets for £6 so that covers us both for bus travel from coach to hotel and back.

2 for 1 at Los Locos Tex Mex restaurant between 5pm and 7pm. Main course between £10 and £16. Bottle of beer £1.50.
    So :
    theatre tickets £120
    coach travel £36
    hotel £100
    buses £6
    meal £20
    Total Cost £282.

Well done, shootme, you've saved about a third of your original costings!

I'd written off the prospect of trying to take my husband and daughter to see Spamalot for his 40th birthday due to the expense, but I might try and see if I can find a way of doing it cheaper using some of these tips.

Hope you have a great time!
