We Will Rock You Theatre Break

My boyfriend is a huge fan of Queen and I really wanted to take him to see We Will Rock You for his birthday on 6th October. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to afford it because it is only playing in London, availability for that date is not very good and the prices I have come up with are as follows (for the 2 of us)
train travel from Leeds - £150
decent tickets from theatremonkey - £121
hotel from lastminute top secret rooms - £99
meal - haven't really looked into this so would guess at about £50
At over £400 there is just no way I can do it. Any ideas to bring the cost down (without getting rubbish tickets)?
Could go by car but we drive a volvo and it's heavy on fuel so would still be expensive.
Thank you

You could save £130 by coach, not my choice either but National Express fun fares for around £22 return for 2. Maybe shave a bit off the hotel, but not much under £65 and probably a bit further out Docklands or somewhere or try travellodges but still £70 ish. Probably about right for the show tickets and depends what sort of meal you want sure he would be happy in a wetherspoons or something similar £20 tops0

'We will rock you' is never sold out and you can get tickets from the half price ticket booth in Leicester Square.
They tell you where the available seats are and you can decide whether to go for them or not on the day.
It is a very good show!0 -
If you select 2 X 2 Single fares via www.thetrainline.com instead of returns, your total fare drops to £89.
A saving of £60 right away.
Or you could both go by National Express for a wopping total of £16 return
You could stay at
Custom House At Excel
272-283 Victoria Dock Road Custom House, London E16 3By, Great Britain , London, UnitedKingdom
For £50 for a double room

i noticed this when looking at another thread http://www.hitthetheatre.co.uk/wwry.php says prices start at £32 so i imagine you would still be a ble to get decent ticets for a better price0

Wow I've just logged on while boyfriend has nipped out to shop. This all sounds fantastic. Haven't got time to check out all the links right now but I'm so grateful for all your replies. Looks like it might be possible after all. Thank you thank you thank you.0

try lastminute.com, which is a website where you can deals on theatre breaks, including travel and accommodation.
Someone I work with went to that very show in the summer through them, so it's worth a look

btw; changing the subject does anyone know why the
"thanks" symbol doesn't come up on my posts?0 -
You can't 'Thank' your own posts only other peoples.0

Oh, never thought of that! So that means everyone else can see the icon on my posts but not me? (I'm sure I sound REALLY thick now)
Anyway, matter in hand;
EXPRESS BY HOLIDAY INN have got several hotels in and around London, they are good value for money.
Don't know the precise web-site address, but just tap it in.
They often have special deals as well

hi all. finally got a morning to myself to sort things out. Well I've ordered the tickets from theatremonkey. I didn't want to risk going there and not getting good tickets being that it is the sole purpose of going there. So, I've paid full price but got really good seats. Row E - fantastic.
Found coach travel through National Express for total of £36 return for us both.
I think I'm going to get one of the top secret hotels from lastminute.com so we can have a bit of luxury. Probably pay about £100.
Just trying to decide whether to get a hotel near Victoria (where the coach goes to) or near the theatre (Dominion on Tottenham Court Road). Finding it quite difficult to figure out the cheapest way to travel within London. Anyone any ideas? Obviously we will have to either travel to the hotel near the theatre from Victoria and then back the next day or travel from the hotel near Victoria to the theatre and then back the same night.
Also, does anyone know of any 2 for 1 meal offers or similar in the restaurants in the vicinity (of Victoria or Theatre depending where we end up staying).
So total cost so far is as follows:-
tickets £120
travel £36
hotel £100
= £256
plus meal and London transport
Thanks everyone0
