I use System Point Creator http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/restore_point_creator.htmlYou know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

It's easy enough to create a restore point. But, as has been pointed out before somewhere else on here, they disappear afterwards (however much space you have provided for them). I presently only have two visible and one I created myself as a test disappeared weeks ago.
Worse still, when one is visible, if you click on 'Scan for affected programs', it brings up a list of around 800 items; I'm not sure I trust it...0 -

......... looks a good alternative to the MS version which from what I have read here does not work properly even if you enable it!
I thought this post on the Majorgeeks link was interesting
'No more drilling through multiple menus in Windows just to create a System Restore Point? Really? Only takes a little common sense to put a "Create Restore Point" shortcut on your desktop. I find these totally unnecessary pieces of software (doing something that Windows does perfectly well by itself) one of the biggest irritations on the web'0
