Avios / Bink app

Hi all,
Hopefully this is the right place to put this. Just signed up for Avios (about to start commuting by Flybe, so every little helps), and it mentioned the Bink app. I can't find much about it online, except for a couple of articles which sound very much like press releases (such as http://www.headforpoints.com/2016/12/05/what-is-bink/) - has anyone else started using it?
It sounds like a all-too-simple way to get extra points (not just for Avios), except you are giving the app full details of your spending - not just in the stores where you want loyalty points, but everywhere. That's a bit worrying, but then the bank has this info anyway (I guess you can use old-fashioned cash if needing to go incognito).
Interested to hear thoughts!
