What just broke off my car?

Options
Hello all. Out of nowhere this morning my car started making a metal clanging sound when going over bumps and then on my way home tonight I heard it hit the road outside. After getting out I found this.

Any idea what it is? I can't see anything missing under the car but I'm not an expert. I really need the car tomorrow, is it safe to drive?

As said, your front coil spring has snapped. A fairly common problem these days.

Always best practice to get both sides replaced at the same time.
I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.
  • Damn't, of course it happens the day before I need to drive down the motorway. Thanks all.
  • Does anyone know if I could drive on it for a day? Not even a day, prob 3 hours total.

Not wise to drive. This problem on certain Citroens was causing the broken spring ends to stab the front tyre (a few years ago)

I did with mine when needed to use car, it might make a bit of noise over bumps but best to sort as soon as you can
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • That;s fine I can get it sorted whenever the garage can take it, but tomorrow I need it to get to an interview. Can't win the lotto but if I need my car, you better believe something goes wrong with it.

    Thanks again.
