UNIVERSAL CREDIT BUDGETING adavnce

Options
Hi .

I have taken out a previous budgeting advance from Universal credit and only now have one payment to pay back before I have totally cleared it ( outstanding payment of £17 approx ).I know that if have ANY outstanding amount on the advance ( like I currently do £17 ) you cannot take out another Budgeting advance/loan.
The final payment of my Budgeting advance will be deducted from this months payment ( 19th January ). However , if I call up and pay the outsanding £17 of the advanceleft early, ( ie tmmrw ), this will then obviously reduce my outstanding advance balance to £0, which would make me eligible to apply for a new Budgeting adavnce.

So my question is: If i call and pay the £17 back using say a debit/credit card would I then be able to apply for a new budgeting advance straight away as I have no outstanding balance or do I have to wait until the final £17 payment comes out of my universal credit payment on the 19th Jan to clear the current Budgeting Advance..

Hope all the above makes sense.

Thanks all.

I've had many budgeting loans in the past and i've never had to wait until an existing loan has finished paying for. If you have a loan outstanding it just means you can have that much less. The total amount of loan you can have depends on your circumstances.

    Hi there,
Yes this was the case if using a Budgeting loan via the Social Fund. However, I am not in that situation I am on Universal credit so the rules are different.Hence UC rules state cannot get a new budgeting advance whilst still have a outstanding balance.

Anyone help with my original question? Regards.

Ps I have paid back 11 months of the budgeting advance with just 1 month left to pay. Can i clear this small balance left with a manual payment by myself so I can get another budgeting advance or does it have to be paid out of my monthly universal credit amount?

    Appreciate all answers.

OMG, call UC? Don't unless you're very rich.

I think you may have to wait until after you get your next UC payment. They will have deducted the £17 outstanding, presumably. You definitely have to have paid back the budgeting advance in full before you can apply for another one under UC rules.

Hi there, the link you provided is information about a UC credit advance this is totally different to a " Budgeting Advance " .Confusing I know but its the Budgeting adavnce I want to know about paying back early using a credit/debit card to clear the small balance so I can get a new Budgeting Advance as I will be then eliigible as I have no previous outstanding Budgeting Advance amount. Hope it is all clear.
    Cheers!!
