If you had to pay line rental while you waited for the cashback to appear that would lose you money.
Also you may not want to cancel until you know that you have the money, but you may then have to pay o2 the notice period after you had cancelled.
I spoke to dialaphone and they said all the cash back comes direct to you, not via o20 -

I've spoken to 2 different Cust services people at Dialaphone- both tell me that the money definitely goes into your O2 account- also the website re this offer clearly states money paid to airtime accountYou know what... you can't beat a good bargain!!!0 -

You are right. I too spoke to dial-aphone, few times and everytime they said it goes to Airtime. Dial-aphone says cashback for Vodafone, o2 and orange is always to Airtime and Three and T-Mobile are to Bank Account.
Generally the Network providers, will refund any money in the Account during closing, but I don't have any experience on it.
Anyway, my phone arrives tomorrow and hopefully in 12 months time, I would be able to get my cashback via dial-aphone & O2.0 -
Hmm - well i guess i got the wrong guy to speak to then0

I am not so sure- when I asked re a refund at the end of contract O2 initially stated "no problem" but when I told the operator that it was a cashback credit form a phone retailer they backtracked and would not commit themselves at this stageYou know what... you can't beat a good bargain!!!0 -
Just spoke to dialaphone again - launched a complaint, its stupid - i said what happens if o2 says we cant have our money back, they say its our problem! That doesnt guarantee you its £4.99 at all!
But i rang o2 and was told, that she wouldnt comment on the cashback deal(fair enough) but any normal o2 account in credit upon cancelation at the end of month 11 will be sent a cheque for the balance,
Out of interest, the 12th month bill has to be sent to claim cashback, so if were cancelling it via o2 in month 11, how can they send cashback to a closed account?.....0 -

Interesting, bills are sent at the start of the month so your bill for month one is actually sent a few days into the contract, which should mean that the bill for month twelve is sent when you have been on the contract for just over 11 months. The question is then how many days does it take to get the cashback.
It is the equivalent of £4.99 for the first year on a one year contract, but my fear is that you would actually have to have the contract for more than a year to get your hands on your cashback.
Of course you can move down to the cheapest tarrif while you wait, but that's probably still around the £15 mark.0
