Hi W, thanks. I'm trying to be more organised but not really getting there. I think getting into a routine with everything would help but it's really hard to do with shift work.
Today I mostly took it easy, I cut both cats' claws & brushed Big cat as he is so hairy. Middle cat is Siamese so he doesn't shed much & doesn't need brushed. I then hoovered upstairs & down, the amount of dust & cat hair was quite grim. DS just followed about behind & was generally well behaved.
We went out into the garden for half an hour where DS got a bit mucky crawling about but he enjoyed himself & wasn't very dirty at all really, just his trousers & hands.
Tried to do a couple of surveys & the usual dish washing/putting away but that was about it. Wrote & sent the email about the desk drama to my boss after putting DS to bed. Took me a while to get it all down, she replied quite quickly to say thanks for taking the time to do it though which was nice.
We finally got a charity bag through the door the other day for clothes etc so I managed to get rid of a full bin bag of clothes, mostly mine but some of DS's too. It was collected this morning. :j Will probably still have more I can cull but it's a start. Need to get DH to go through his stuff too.
Shoe wise I think I need to get a decent pair of flats with good support & a slight lift (as wearing completely flat shoes with very thin soles hurts my knees now). I also need a flat pair (slight heel) of ankle boots for winter & a decent pair of smart-ish trainers (preferably dark coloured) for everyday wear. The trainers I have hurt my back as they are conv*rse & too flat with no support. I sound like a proper old lady. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. I completely get the shoe thing, I can't manage a heel since I sprained my ankle badly last year but true flats hurt. Could you put some decent insoles into the converse which might take the urgency off it?My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Hi redo, good idea about insoles, it's worth a try as the trainers are fine, just too flat & I get a sore back when I wear them. I have such awkward feet & now I have to take into account how shoes will affect my back & knees if I wear them as well!
DS had his one year assessment with the health visitor today & she seemed very happy with him. He was acting all bashful at first but kept showing off & by the end she was getting big smiles. :rotfl: She was quite taken with our Siamese cat too.
DS was weighed & measured & is bang in the middle for height & weight for his age, which is what I thought anyway but MIL keeps insisting that he's unusually tall.:rotfl:
Went out for lunch with my sister & my cousin who has a new baby and just needed to get out of the house. She's in the "every day is Groundhog Day" phase & is feeling fed up. The baby is a wee doll & just lovely but has colic & reflux so sleeping isn't great. DS played up the whole time we were out & refused to eat anything except some garlic bread & a yoghurt.:o
Dropped in to see my mum on the way home & DS was all smiles for her! Poor boy was exhausted though as only napped about 30 mins the whole day. Fingers crossed he sleeps well tonight as playgroup is back on tomorrow & I'm hoping to get us up & out to it. It starts at 9:30 which is early for us as DS tends to sleep until 8am most mornings & then is happy to play in his cot for a while. I take full advantage of this to catch up on sleep. :rotfl:
Just did 30 mins of yoga and feeling better for it but at the same time feeling how stiff I am again. Got two washings done today - one load of DS's stuff (changed his cot fitted sheet & washed his sleeping bag as well as his clothes) & one load was our bedsheets as I stripped the bed first thing. They both had to go in the TD though as it was showery all day here.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. :rotfl: Swimming  err, I think you can keep your early riser. :rotfl: No doubt DS will be a different story when he's older & in a bed, not trapped in a cot.
I remember getting up really early with my sister at weekends from around the age of 4 or 5 and sitting watching the test card on the telly, waiting for the cartoons to come on!! We were always convinced that the clown moved when we weren't looking. :rotfl:
That makes me sound (and feel) really old actually! Kids now wouldn't have a clue what I'm talking about. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. We missed playgroup as slept in.
We had a good day pottering around the house & DS ate really well all day. He was trying to run me down with his walker, which he finally got the hang of.
He then splashed so much in the bath that the whole bathroom was soaking.:rotfl:
Have managed to get quite a lot of cleaning done today, cat litter boxes got emptied & cleaned, kitchen bin emptied & cleaned, bathrooms cleaned & living room hoovered. :T Quite good with DS trying to get into everything at the same time.
Need to get out with DS tomorrow, DH off so hopefully the weather will dry up a bit & we can go to the park.

DH & I took DS for a walk in the park yesterday, the day was dull but so humid. Apart from that we had quite a chilled day & had chicken breast stuffed with garlic & herb soft cheese & wrapped in ham with runner beans & mashed potato for dinner. DS enjoyed his half of a chicken breast, loved the soft cheese.
He had semolina for his pudding as I had made a big batch of earlier in the week & he really likes it. :j I bought it because I like it but wasn't sure if he would, DH not too keen.
Today I got us up & out to the singing & story group for the first time in ages. DS enjoyed it although he did have a few moans & one crying fit.He loved the bubble machine & the story with the Peter rabbit hand puppet.
I met another girl from school with her baby who is 5 months old, nice to see her after about 15 years.
Afterwards I finally managed to post a parcel I've been trying to post for a week. DS was getting grumpy so headed home although I'll need to go out to Mr M's for a few things later.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Managed to get out to Mr M's yesterday when DH came home from work & didn't spend too much. Will need to go to Mr Al's later in the week though.
Today DS & I stayed in, I put a washing on, did some hoovering, stuck a loaf on in the bread maker & made minestrone soup. My sister came up to cut my hair & my mum came too. My sister didn't want any money but I said I would put her share of this month's money into the savings account for my mum's 60th next year (£10) as didn't want her cutting my hair for free. Still a great saving for me as would usually cost £30 at the hairdresser I usually go to. :T
DS had a bad night last night & woke quite a few times, I think he had trapped wind/a sore tummy. He was pretty tired today so a bit grumpier than usual but was very happy to see my mum & sister.
Tried giving DS his bedtime milk in a cup tonight, he was raging & refused to take it so I gave in & swapped it for a bottle. He only has a bottle at bedtime so I'm not going to stress out about it, he'll get there eventually. He hasn't had a dummy since he was 7/8 months old & just didn't bother with it anymore so I took it away, he only had it for comfort at night anyway. He'll grow out of the bottle at bedtime & swap to a cup eventually.
Back to work tomorrow & Thurs for two late shifts & then off until Sunday. DH on early shifts so won't see much of him until Friday. DS will need to be dropped off at my mum's tomorrow before I go to work as DH doesn't finish until after my start time. DH will pick the boy up on his way home.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Hi Scott, :rotfl: thanks I'll treasure my crown. :rotfl:
Trying to have a relaxing morning before going to work later (as much as I can with DS).
Just caught DS lifting up his pj top to examine his tummy button. :rotfl: It's also official that his first word is "cat", thanks DS, that shows his priorities - the cats are way more interesting than me or DH.He is currently lying in the cat basket - cats long since scarpered obviously.
He has an unfortunate obsession with the cat litter trays though & nothing I do seems to keep him from sticking his hand in & scattering litter all over the floor. :eek:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
