Just put DS to bed, praying he sleeps better tonight, he was waking every hour from around 1am until 6am this morning and I am exhausted. Took him out into the garden today in his pram so that I could cut back a lot of the plants that have been neglected/killed by the recent cold.
I made a baby fish pie today with sweet potato, broccoli & salmon and DS was not impressed! He kept crying when I put it in his mouth & I had to resort to bribery by feeding him an apricot yoghurt first. After that he tried some of the fish pie but wasn’t all that keen. There was enough made for one portion to be frozen & some cooked salmon left over which I also froze. DS can try it again another time, it might be the sweet potato though rather than the fish as he’s not a big fan of it.
DH came home from work today with a D&V bug. Just hope neither me nor DS catch it.
Will get out for some food either tonight or tomorrow morning, snow all washed away by the rain. :j
Need to try and do some housework as MIL is descending on Thursday. :cool:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
DS slept for a full 5 hours in a row last night which is much better than it has been. :j DH still not well so off work.
I managed to get out to the shops today and spent a small fortune as bought a lot of fruit and veg to try and make some dinners for DS as well as healthier food for us. I'm going to try some mild dahl for DS but have never made it before so it will be a bit of an experiment.
I got most of the food needed in Mr Al's, dread to think what it would have cost elsewhere as still managed to spend £88. I then headed to Mr M's for a few things.
I bought another baby sleeping bag for DS as they had them for £12 and he has a terrible habit of waiting for me to take off his nappy & then peeing everywhere in the middle of the night. So now we have one in the wash, one in the drawer and one in use. Also managed to get a sleepsuit reduced in the sale in his current size and a t-shirt and hoodie in 12-18 month size for the summer.
DH finally asked his mum what she would like for her birthday and she said a scarf from a particular site but not which scarf, just told him to get me to pick one. I asked if he'd even asked her what colour - No - of course he hadn't asked something helpful like that. :rotfl: So we picked one & ordered, email next day - out of stock. Picked another one and ordered, email next day, that colour is going to be delayed, do you want another colour. Luckily it is only going to be delayed by 2 days so that's fine. Found a Sanctuary gift set in my present cupboard that can make up the rest of the present, so nice & MSE. :money:
Finally remembered to parcel up and send a present to my friend who recently adopted a baby. Just a wee pink knitted jumper dress and a peppa pig board book.
Did my yoga tonight and enjoyed it although my sciatic pain is playing up again. Thankfully I have the chiropractor tomorrow so she can sort me out.
Also going to head into work to have a chat with one of the managers about starting my KIT days in a couple of weeks. Not looking forward to going back in some ways but know it will be fine.
Trying to decide which loan to overpay next once DH gets the new loan through as it will pay off the highest interest loan (6.3%).
The next highest interest loan is our Z0pa loan so overpaying won't shorten the term but should lower the monthly payment. Unsure whether to do this or overpay the new loan which will shorten the term.
I've suggested to DH that we overpay the Z0pa loan until the monthly payment is under £200 p/m, it's currently around £208, was originally about £220 and sporadic overpayments over the last 3 years have reduced it by £12 p/m. Then we could move on to the new loan and try to shorten the term by overpaying that. The Z0pa loan will be paid off in April 2019 anyway.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Well the chiropractor sorted out my back but still feeling a bit twingey. She asked how my back had been and I said fine until the last few days and as I reached to show her where the pain was, she touched my back in the exact place and said she could see it! So back in 6 weeks again, will keep up with my yoga as it helps.
Went into work to speak to them about KIT days/job share etc. Of course the manager I had arranged to speak to (and who has been dealing with all my maternity paperwork etc) wasn’t there because she’s now off sick. The manager that was there was just back from sick leave, didn’t have a clue and didn’t even know what KIT days were!! So I told him what date I want to start doing my one day a week from & said I would email in the days I can work.
I then bumped into the manager above him & he told me to email him and he’ll see about getting it sorted and that they will probably be able to be quite flexible with me. So I might be able to choose my hours etc which would be good but will wait and see. Have emailed him this morning with dates etc and copied in the useless managers under him as well.
MIL descending this afternoon so DH is tidying & hoovering the house, the only thing that makes him tidy is his mum visiting. :rotfl: I need to clean the bathrooms, just getting DS to have a nap and going to try putting him in his cot. Well DS refused to nap in his cot, as soon as I put him in it his eyes pinged open & he wouldn’t go back to sleep. So I left him there whilst I cleaned the bathrooms, hoping he would give in and fall asleep but no chance, he is so stubborn! DH said he gets it from me, which is probably true as I can be stubborn as a mule at times.
On the other hand we have had a few good nights with DS sleeping a lot better, apart from a leaking nappy one night which led to a full wardrobe change & a dirty nappy/poo up the back scenario leading to a change of vest last night.
MIL descended yesterday & not too bad so far but I still have several days for her to drive me mad so we’ll see how it goes. :rotfl: I made dahl for DS last night (that reminds me, I need to freeze the rest in baby size portions) & he really enjoyed it. :j MIL was flapping a bit because it’s a curry & kept thinking I would make it too spicy for him (she doesn’t like spicy food so is suspicious of it). It was lovely & mild, personally I would have a bit more chilli in it but it was for DS so only one teaspoon of chilli powder. I was quite pleased with it & happy he enjoyed it.
DH’s car in for MOT and service today, fingers crossed that all is ok. We’re off out for lunch soon with DS & MIL as it’s her birthday next week.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Hows your back coming on?? Mine was like that the other week my osteopath went well your standing with probably about a spasm big enough to make you wanna cry I presume. I was well standing tilted to one side. Have you tried using pilates bands they are great help as well as yoga?

Well done for trying a new recipe and even better, DS enjoyed it. If MIL is staying, why not use it as an opportunity to escape for a few hours whilst OH and MIL look after DS? Take the chance while you can, is what I say.0

Hi Scott, my back is feeling a bit better thanks, sitting for a while seems to make it worse but walking/standing too much does as well! I haven’t tried Pilates bands but will look into them now, thanks for the suggestion. Hope your back is feeling better after the osteopath, my sister prefers the osteopath to the chiropractor but I haven’t tried one before.
Hi chanie, good idea re escaping, we’re going into town in a bit so I’m going to leave DS with DH & MIL to have a wander about on my own & get into the shops that are impossible with a pram!
We went to a big shopping centre yesterday as MIL was going to the Apple store about her phone not working.
I took DS off into Primarni as needed to get him more plain 6-9 month vests & sleepsuits. Was quite difficult just to find plain white vests & neutral sleepsuits - nearly everything was blue or pink!! I don’t mind getting some blue things but don’t want his whole wardrobe to be shades of blue! I got him a couple of tops for £1 each & a pair of jeans in 9-12 month size reduced to £3. I don’t mind buying him basics here as don’t expect them to last too long anyway.
I also added some things to my birthday stash; reduced Harry Potter socks for my brother’s girlfriend as she loves HP, Minnie Mouse ballet style slippers & aristocats socks for my sister. We loved The Aristocats when we were younger. :rotfl: We watched that & Disney Robin Hood over & over - I wanted to marry Robin Hood even though he was a cartoon fox. :rotfl: We must have driven my mum mad watching the same 2 films all the time - on VHS as well, makes me feel old!
We went out for lunch & DS was flirting with all the ladies. :rotfl: He kept turning round & smiling at all the ladies nearby plus the waitresses and got plenty of attention which he loved.
My friend got the present for his new adopted daughter and was very pleased with the jumper dress but said she’ll get plenty of wear out of it as she’s so tiny. I bought a size up as didn’t know if she was big for her age or not, she’s a week older than my DS.
MIL driving me slightly mad, bit baby snatchy but nowhere near as bad as the first time she saw him. She keeps going on about him not knowing who she is & how she’s going to die before he grows up. *rolls eyes forevermore* She’s a very fit 71. :rotfl: DS forgets who my mum is and he sees her every week. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. MIL is away home :j and she also did all my ironing last night. :j
We had my twin nieces staying over again on Saturday and were playing a party game on PS4 with them which was good fun & they thought it was hilarious. :rotfl: DS enjoyed all the attention as well.
We went into town and I left DS with DH & MIL so I could have peace. DH was texting within 20 mins for me to come back & save him. Picked up the ankle boots I’d ordered but they feel quite narrow so might have to return them.
Also bought most of the birthday cards for the year for just under £12. Will need to get Mother’s & Father’s Day cards but think that’s about it.
Alternated between being annoyed by MIL and enjoying her taking DS so I could do other things. I actually got to go and have an hours nap yesterday. :T Was so tired as DS up & down all night again with teething.

Seemed to spend most of yesterday & today putting on washings & transferring them to the tumble dryer. Feel like I’m never done washing these days!
DS is teething again so getting very grumpy late afternoon onwards, poor wee baby.Calpol seems to be helping though as he slept much better last night.
Have done a few surveys today, along with my yoga and housework. Made a tuna pasta bake and DS had some which he seemed to enjoy.
I made a baby version of a chicken tagine yesterday & froze it in ice cube size portions so it’s easy to defrost. DS seemed quite receptive to it which was good.I bought low salt stock cubes for when I’m making dinners for DS as didn’t want to use normal ones. Also made cheese & spinach muffins for DS and they were really tasty. DH & I ate more than DS. :rotfl: I froze 4 for him as they’ll be good for lunches.

DS had another good night’s sleep last night. :j But was then a wee monkey all day, refusing to nap.
I went out for afternoon cocktails & Spanish tapas with a couple of girls from work so escaped the baby being naughty.DH was working late shift so my mum watched DS for me. It was good as meant I was home for 9pm to let her get home, therefore limiting my drinking & hangover potential. :rotfl: Still managed 2 cocktails, a couple of glasses of wine, Spanish coffee liqueur & 2 gins though. Had a nice time and the restaurant had 50% off the a la carte menu so the food was nice & cheap.
DS continued his naughtiness though & was wide awake when I got home. He didn’t sleep until after 10pm when my mum had left. Will be heading to bed soon, just hope DS sleeps through the night again.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
