Sounds like a lovely weekend Sashy x“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”0

Thanks W, it was really nice to have our nieces stay over - it's the first time they've asked to stay as well so it was their own idea.
They love helping with DS and in the kitchen. I think it's a novelty for them as their mum (my sister) is sometimes too scared to let them do things like handle bread knives. Don't worry I showed them how and held onto the handle. My sister was a bit  when I said I had them cutting bread with a bread knife. :rotfl:
Did my yoga last night and it was hard work, my obliques have been aching today. Did tonight's yoga and there was more oblique work, I'm going to be hobbling about all stiff tomorrow.
I'm going to have to go into work this week to speak to them about starting my keeping in touch days from mid Feb onwards. _pale_ They stop paying me SMP then and can't afford to be unpaid for 3 months so going to go back one day a week for 10 weeks & use my 10 keeping in touch days. This will pay roughly the same as SMP and means I get a bit longer off. I'm so glad one of the managers told me about this as I had no idea you could do it - she only knew because her sister-in-law had done it. The lack of communication from HR is shocking, they really don't give a monkey's.
Going to ask if my one day a week can be worked around DH's rest days as he works for the same company. Only thing is his rest days change every week so I can't even say I'll work every Monday for 10 weeks, as it will be a different day.
I don't even have my own job role to go back to, god knows what I'll be doing. Hopefully this means they'll be more flexible with me, my own office managers were very good during my pregnancy so hopefully they'll be willing to remain flexible now.
So anyway, will be end of April/start of May before I need to go back on job share (which I've not heard anything about ). I can't go back full time due to the shifts with DH also working shifts and no possibility of child care so I need this job share. Will stay positive and just hope it all works out.Juggling my work days and trying to align them with DH's rest days is not going to be fun.

Hi guys :hello:
Thanks Rachel - my work have been very uncommunicative throughout my whole pregnancy and maternity leave. They are just not interested and I'm always chasing them for things. I think I've had one letter from HR confirming my maternity leave and pay months ago and that's it! My manager answered my letter about KIT days (saying that I could do this) and that job share had been applied for but that was it, nothing since then.
Kirsty I find it so strange that they make maternity pay/leave and job sharing so stressful and complicated. No wonder so many women just don't go back to work - wish I could afford to tell them to stick it. Well I do and I don't, I know I'll enjoy the social aspect of going back to work, just not the rest of it! I work for a big company and can't get my head round how awful they have been at communicating with me about anything.
chanie thanks so much for the offer, I may well take you up on it if anything further comes up.
It's been snowing/raining on and off all day here and now the snow is lying.I hate snow! Was going to head into work today to speak to the manager who has dealt with all my maternity leave/paperwork etc but the weather was just too bad. I'll go in and see her next week.
Going to do some yoga very shortly then will maybe have a gin & tonic and watch some tv before bed. Last night DS slept not too badly until 4am and then didn't want to go back to sleep in his cot. At 5am I gave up and just took him into our bed so I could get some sleep.:o
Got the dentist tomorrow and then going to lunch with DH & DS. Have a couple of things to return for refunds so will do that tomorrow as well. DH going out for a couple of drinks so a solo dinner for me & DS again.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Managed to get out to the dentist ok - all our teeth are fine, DH had a scale and polish, nothing for me and DS didn't bite the dentist! :j He did chew her finger a bit though. :rotfl: He must have been good though as he got two stickers, which he then proceeded to try & eat.
We went and I returned the things I needed to and didn't stop to look at anything else. :j Went for lunch and DS sat in a highchair and did really well. He had a bottle and a bit of banana custard then just had bits of my lunch - some chicken, lettuce, pitta bread and mashed potato. His face was pretty funny with the lettuce, think it was the texture that confused him a bit.
Have been doing some more thinking about getting the semi-permanent eyebrows done. At £175 it's not cheap and they will need topped up once a year (not sure how much that costs, will need to check). I think I might aim to get them done for my birthday and that gives me 6 months to save up using survey money. I still want to be overpaying the debt if possible so would maybe halve the survey money between the eyebrow fund and the debt.
Have been internet window shopping tonight - i.e. putting all the nice things in the basket and then leaving the site without actually buying. :rotfl: Sometimes it's just as satisfying & no money spent.
DS woke at 4am again and then again at 5am.This has been a pattern for the last few mornings, I'm hoping he gets over it soon as I can't do early mornings so just take him into our bed. DH is worried he'll expect to come into our bed every morning but we pretty much do it most mornings anyway, just later and for half an hour or so.
I woke up around 9am this morning on the very edge of the mattress of a king sized bed with DH & DS snoring away and sprawled out! Getting pushed out of the bed now!
Did my yoga tonight and going to read for a bit before bed. Have a peach & apricot cider waiting for me too. :TSuccess is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Went out for lunch yesterday with some friends from work, they had a half price voucher so with wine it worked out around £15 each. :T Had some gins afterwards, one of my friends insisted on doubles so have a bit of a headache today.
Also going out with them again in 2 weeks, they have itison vouchers for 2 cocktails each & I have booked a tapas place with a 50% off the main menu offer, so hopefully another cheap day out.
I knew I wasn’t going to have time for yoga yesterday so I walked into town from the house rather than get a taxi. That saved me a fiver & took about 35 mins, so at least I got some exercise. Will make sure to do my yoga tonight though.
I need to buy some flat ankle boots as the ankle boots I’m wearing a lot just now have a heel that seems to be causing my sciatic nerve to niggle in my lower back. I had a pair of flat ankle boots from Dotty P’s that I wore practically the whole time I was pregnant that now have worn through the heel on one side. I have a feeling that it will cost nearly as much to get it re-heeled as to buy a brand new pair. I’ve seen a similar pair in the sale for £17 so thinking of just getting them as I can wear them for work as well.
Good news re the loan we have with the highest interest rate - DH applied for another loan at a much lower rate ( 3.4% rather than 6.4%) & has been accepted. :T It will mean the loan payment will be £33 less per month, less interest paid overall & we can overpay/pay off the loan without penalty. The current loan provider charges 2 months payment for an early repayment in full. :mad:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Found the yoga quite challenging last night and it was a 40 minute practice instead of the usual 20. I managed it though. :j
Quite icy outside today so another day in for me & DS. DH working lates so not much planned for tonight.
I have been looking through some books for inspiration for meals for DS. I want to give him lots of different things to try & he seems to like quite strong flavours so looking at bolognese, goulash & mild curries and things like that. He loves bananas & pears and can feed himself them as long as they’re cut into sticks, with the banana I leave some skin at the bottom for him to hold onto, usually only give him half at a time anyway.
Going to go food shopping tomorrow and will get some things to make up a few different dinners for DS. He’s actually pretty good with different textures & lumps as he has 7 teeth already.
Have arranged another lunch, this time with DH, as my mum gave us an itison voucher for Christmas for 2 courses plus a drink. I have also bought another voucher so we can go for a couple of drinks afterwards. My mum is watching DS 2 Wednesdays in a row so that I can go out for lunch.
Forgot to mention, my DH has ripped 2 pairs of jeans within 2 weeks so they are unwearable. One pair ripped right down the bum & the other right down the crotch! They were both the same make so won’t be buying those again! Luckily he was at home for one & just getting in the car to go home with the other. :rotfl: So we will need to get him at least one new pair as he only has one pair intact now.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. We've had more snow today.
It was pretty heavy and I thought I'd get out to the supermarket before it got worse but as I was clearing my car, my neighbour across the road shouted on me from her window. She said not to attempt driving down our hill as people couldn't get back up and a fire engine was stuck on the hill as well. Apparently the ice underneath the snow was making it a nightmare.
So back into the house I went, luckily we didn't need anything urgently. I used some sausages from the freezer and some veg from the fridge to make slow cooker sausage casserole. DH made cheesy mash to go with it, so we had a very yummy dinner. Will attempt to get out tomorrow for some food shopping.
Changed the sheets on the bed, got the dirty ones washed & in the tumble drier and then put another washing of DS's stuff on. Had a pretty lazy day apart from that.
Just finished today's yoga and again a bit hard as there were a lot of forearm and side planks which I hate. _pale_Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
