Although the air rifle is a good idea (to some) just be careful. It should be common sense, but it isn't to many, but there are lots of laws around them. Just because they aren't a real weapon doesn't mean you can't get arrested for firearm offences. You can look up laws online, but many include that you can only shoot on your land, you cannot fire towards a road (!!), you have to lock it away in the house. Also to get a .22 you are looking at least £50 for a cheap one that will require numerous shots before you get one.

Try other things first...! A bird feeder with fat balls/seeds, or wire mesh, cat/dog repellent. Lots of cheap ways to try, and without practice you aren't guaranteed to shoot them anyway.

My Dad had one of those super soaker kids guns and soaked the little so and so's everytime he spotted one in the garden.

Sadly he is in hospital at the mo so doubt he will be out chasing them next summer, but fingers crossed.

We have 2 cats so never had much trouble with squirrels tbh and now we have a dog as well doubt we will even see them running along the fence at the bottom any more.

Human male urine is supposed to fend off foxes et al and also good for compost, but not everyone is happy using that lol.
