Thanks for the taotrionics looks like what I'm looking for just need a radio with a power output if it exists. Also licences all sorted.

That Taotrionics unit has a built in rechargeable battery via a micro usb port. Mine lasts all day on one charge.

So far i see 2 problems with pocket dab 1 being I've not seen one without an external ariel and I'd stiil need bluetooth speaker doe when I wanted to listen to my music.

As for transmitter it looks like what I'm looking for but power it from a radio with external power rather then recharging battery every day.

Thank you for all the help so far. But the search still goes on.

This charges, and works while charging, via usb so can be powered by a usb charger. No need for a power output on the radio.
    Others should be similar.

Saw a nice little compact bluetooth speaker that plugs straight into a power socket in a shop in Munich today - trouble is it was for a Euro socket.

Roberts do one but it is a tad expensive,

My one had a little extension/remote/jack socket thing socket that was also functional as an aerial and using it did give better reception than just headphones - although that was not saying much.

I'm unable to post links but. View quest retro mini on very. Or august mb400 on amazon.
The vq looks like it would power the bluetooth transmitter so I could use a separate bt speaker. I think.
Not sure if august would do the same.

    Any ideas.

This looks like what you want - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N2H10K9

It even comes with Bluetooth headphones. I can't tell if the Bluetooth transmitter is in the radio, or separate.

edit - found it cheaper here.. but no mention of Bluetooth - http://www.robertdyas.co.uk/akai-portable-dab-radio-silver
