Glad to read that you enjoyed the Christmas party Maman and :j on the compliments.
But aon the plumbing needs Chanie if I put my Pollyanna hat on at least the unexpected windfall will cover or at least go towards the cost rather than having to find it all?
Your energy amazes and puts me to shame Sugarbaby what a social life!
It's a difficult time of year LL so many memories of past celebrations, am missing my Mum like mad as we did so much of the preparation together it just feels wrong for her not to be here?
I am slowly getting everything in place for our relatively quiet Christmas, the best news of all is that my stepsons are spending the day with us! Always in the past they have spent the day with their Mum who dislikes Xmas with a passion so always went away and took them with her. This year she is with her new partner and says she doesn't have the room for them to stay so they are coming to us, my beloved is over the moon :T
My facial was fabulous, my niece uses Eve Taylor products in her salon and have to say am very impressed. She used the anti-stree range to calm down the redness and it left my skin wonderfully clear and smooth, so much so that I purchased some of the facial wash and have ordered the moisturiser :rotfl: also rebooked for another appointment in 6 weeks time. In addition to this I have treated myself to a new Clinique mascara, Bobby Brown eyeliner and brush, all of which were recommended on a blog, I especially like the eyeliner. To top it all off I went to the hairdressers today so that's me all ready for the festive season!0 -
Good evening , ok morning
I've been lurking for a while but now jumping in looking for advice.
Just what can I do about facial hair?
I've had waxing before with variable results. The Thai nail bars are £12 ish for lips and chin but never clear it all and it grows back so quickly. Champneys were very good, lasted around 3 weeks but cost £35 which I can no longer afford.
Can anyone recommend any over the counter lotions and potions?
Just a quickie for LL.
This is a very difficult time of year,, over the last few days I have been brought to a standstill with thoughts, memories and regrets for those I have lost.
I think it's such an intense time of year, so much emotion and drama packed into a few short days that it's bound to leave lasting memories.
I suppose as a child/young adult you never really think of Christmas as a bittersweet time but I really do feel it more as I get older (54 )
Night night

I have laser done on my face and I'm pleased with the results. IPL is a light based laser (this is the one that works best on dark hair/light skin). I have laser, which uses a heat based technology and this is suitable for pretty much all skin types (don't quote me on this). I get deals on Groupon for laser - to give you an idea, I used to pay £60 a session for my face, but through Groupon, I get 6 sessions for about that price.0 -
:wave:scatterbrain. So pleased that chanie was able to advise. I've very limited experience of removing facial hair. When I had my eyebrows threaded for the only time the beautician asked if I wanted her to remove the odd bits from my lip area. She didn't charge extra and it lasted months.
Wrapping a few presents and decorating the tree is on today's agenda. Last night I had a happy time making a Christmas pomander.
It's really pretty and smells gorgeous. Another little tip from my decorating: We've got a coal effect gas fire in the sitting room which isn't working at the moment. I suspect it's beyond repair so while I dither between replacing or removing, the fireplace can look a bit cold. I've put a string of white fairy lights in between the coals and it looks fab. It would work just as well with pine cones or logs. I think I might keep them there after Christmas too.
So pleased that you've got the family coming for Christmas Lainey. Our DD2 chooses not to come any more as she hosts her MIL instead. I understand why as the MIL is needy and would otherwise be on her own but it does a hurt a bit.
It's chilly here but bright and sunny so a perfect winter day. I do hope we get some of this next week as it'll be lovely for walking.:)0 -
Bless me Fabbers, for I have sinned
(although maybe this should be on the KM thread too
)...I had to go into Sainsbugs today for some bits only they have and noticed a 50% sale on Tu clothing. I came away with 5 new jersey l/s crew neck t-shirts for £4.25 each, and remarkably they are all in my Soft Summer colour palette so they have slotted into my wardrobe very neatly
I also picked up a jumper for £6 that I paid £22 for last week (first one is going back for a refund!). My local store had quite a lot of stuff - some Christmassy / party seasonal, some end of ranges, including shoes, bags, nightwear and undies.
Maman when we bought the house next door it had a coal effect gas fire in that we assumed wasn't connected...4 years on we finally got round to having it checked out last nightA very nice chap came, took it out, tested the gas and the chimney and said if we decided to have a new one he could fit it before New Year's Eve
I priced and ordered up a new one today - £189 from Screwfix plus £125 fitting (and no charge last night either). Less than I was expecting and it will be lovely to have the warmth and focal point in the room, and will be mine & DH's Christmas presents to each other

Yes it does hurt, feels like burning. But its over relatively quickly and the results are good.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I went to Karaoke last night and had a good time, despite having lots of aches and pains from my 3 nights out last week.I did take my painkillers on my way to the Karaoke venue. I had to sit down far more than I wanted to and I felt tired, but I was not going to let that stop me from having a good night out. I sang a new song last night; My Guy by Mary Wells.
I had very sad news before I had left home from my niece who was due to get married on 17th February 2018. She had to cancel her wedding. Her fiance is in hospital and he has both physical and mental health issues. We all feel quite helpless. I have prayed for them both and will continue to pray for them both to have the strength both physically and mentally to get through all the challenges that will come their way in the coming weeks and months.
My eldest daughter has been so ill with a viral infection for more than 2 weeks, that it is only this week that she was able to talk to me, but she is still very ill. Before, she only had the strength to send the shortest of texts to me. Her husband is also suffering as well. They are both in need of practical help, but because of my suppressed immune system and my heart disease I am not able to be that person, because it is important that I do not contract any type of viral infections as I could potentially end up in a critical condition. I am so worried about the both of then, but I am forced to keep my distance.0 -
Sorry to hear the sad news about your family sugarbaby. It's important we remember that not everyone is having a great time at Christmas. My thoughts are with you.:A
Its my DD1's birthday today but as it's a working day we've agreed to meet up after school and go to the nail shop together and then for a coffee so I can give presents. What she doesn't know is that my DGD (her DD) is coming home from university today and will meet us in the coffee shop to surprise her mum. That'll be her best present.:)
I'm having shellac on my nails today after a long break. I'm planning on a dark red. I gave myself a manicure last night so that the shape is good before they're painted. So, like Lainey, after today all the fabbing will be in place.
Thanks for the heads up on the fires floss. The fire is useful between seasons when I want to just heat up a room rather than have the heating on but I'm still unsure. I could just have it removed and we'd have the option of a coal/wood fire. That's a job I can put off for the new year.
Before I go to the train station to pick up DGD I'm going to get my planning done and then hit the grocery shopping tomorrow.
I'm sure you're all very busy but hope you're all finding some time for yourselves.:)0 -
Quick update: DD's birthday surprise worked really well. She was distracted opening her presents in the wine bar / coffee shop when DGD came in. I'd bought her some Emma Bridgewater handbag tissues and they came in very handy! Feeling very happy and set up for Christmas.:D0
