Good morning everyone and I wish you all a happy and peaceful year.
I managed to stay awake although dozed off for a few minutes while the mister watched mindless cr*p I mean interesting TV and we celebrated with him first footing and a glass if wine. Lots of fireworks here and it took me a long time to get to sleep . Woke up at 6 and it is raining still, the weather man in my tablet says it will carry on raining all day.
See dp1, how boring my postsare, truly a triumph of tge humdrum.
I have a massive leg of lamb to cook this evening, not sure what possessed the mister to get that other than it being hugely reduced. We all like roast lamb but not cold lamb ever. I think I might make double the gravy and slice up the rest for another day. We will have roast potatoes, roast parsnips (not for me), cauliflower in white sauce, mashed swede and carrots and probably Yorkshire, which I like with lamb. And mint sauce, the main reason for having lamb as far as I am concerned.
Have a good day and thank you all for your company throughout the year.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Happy New Year to you all, lets hope 2017 gets to be a better one for us all.I am quite glad to see the back of 2016 personally.
DGS Danny and his new wife arrived just after the bells as they are going to Gatwick at the crack of dawn, and hopefully now are on the plane waiting to take off for their honeymoon in Barbados. DGS Danny is still grinning and has been since Christmas Eve when he married his very pretty wife.
Lots of fireworks last night and I didn't get to bed until gone three, good job its only once a year .But I'm wide awake at the moment ,probably a 'Nanna nap' will be on the cards later after lunch.
I won't be back at my home until tomorrow ,then I will list all my shopping requirements and get them in one fell swoop in the hope that I won't need anything else for a couple of weeks. My freezer is full to the brim, and I only need fresh fruit and veg so fingers crossed the bill won't be a big one
Raining and very murky here in north Kent so as I am still recovering from my heavy cold (HM and I have things in common after all
:):))
I shan't be walking today ,but tomorrow a walk along to sea shore may be on the cards as last week we went to Herne Bay and although cold it was really nice to get a bit of fresh sea air
AOD left over lamb makes a lovely curry or Sheps Pie to chuck in the freezer
I hope you all get what you wish for this year
Cheers chums

Happy New Year everyone. I am feeling quite a bit better, thank you tru, witness the fact that I am thinking about doing some of the housework that has been sadly neglected over the last few days.
I just opened a Facebook post on 15 ways to save money on food, silly me, most of them were about cutting down on takeaways and eating out. It included the tip to buy a container to take lunches to work. I suppose it might be useful for someone but was hardly rocket science.
I might start taking the decs down if I feel up to it. We want to paint the living room next weekend if we can. I bought the paint 30% off before Christmas and want to do it quickly because when DD and her DH return from India I am sure they will need hep sorting out their house. The renovation still isn't finished and they have had real problems with a cowboy plumber.
I wished DS and his DW Happy New Year over thee phone but told them to keep away until we're certain that we're free of infection. They're off to Whipsnade Zoo to renew the membership we give them every year.0 -
Thank you JackieO, I could make a lamb curry for the chaps, will see how much is left, unfortunately the only way I can eat it is roast dinner style. I am told that I am the world's fussiest eater and one I made a list of the things I don't like and was quite horrified. It was quite long.
Just had mince pie for breakfast in spirit of super healthy eating.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -

Have a great day whatever you are up to x0 -
Happy New Years Day and hope for all the best for 2017 for you all.
Had a lovely evening last night with 2 of our friends, made the most of it as they are moving to Spain in a weeks time.It was gone 3 when we got to bed as their taxi was nearly an hour late. The fireworks werent too bad & didnt last long as it was raining,Ly1a was restless and pacing but I'd dosed her up on herbal tablets and she wasnt too bad.We had a bottle of champers that s.o. gave DH and we've been saving for a special occasion.
My tater hash with a crust went down very well, and cheeseboard for after so pretty economical for NYE.I've got a pork joint for tea but we're calling at my DB1s later so I'll put it in before we go.
Hugs for those in need xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -

Happy New Year everyone!
I read everyday but post only infrequently. So being there is a sparkly new year I thought I'd make a resolution to post more often if you'll have me.
Wet here but looks like it might be brightening up. OH has taken the tree down this morning and is now preparing jacket potatoes for lunch with beans and cheese. A nice change after all that turkey and ham.
We will be having a quiet day here after a hectic day yesterday with DD and DGS (2). OH took her grocery shopping, then we had lunch at our house, did playing then trip to park. DD cooked fahitas for us for dinner then they went home. Yay we escaped bath time at Grammie and Grampy's house as DGC had no jammies with him!
Well I hear my jacket potato calling so signing off.
Hugs to poorlies and families coping will illness and loss.
