EDIT : I found 2 pipes with valves, I connected cold to top one and ran machine, noticed the tray didn't have water in but machine seems to be working (though I think water is going in as when I first opened valve I heard a drip and had to tighten hose at back at machine)
Have attached a photo which is best I can do at moment.

Most machines only take cold now.
I would strongly suspect that if you only hook up the cold, your machine will just warm the water anyway, and only use the hot feed if it's there. So it will probably just work. What's the make/model?0 -
It may work on cooler washes if you only connect to the cold input. Most machines only take cold now.

Older machines used hot only fill for hot washes & a mixture of hot & cold for cooler washes.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
WM with hot /cold connectors may not have a built in heater so you will only get a cold wash.0

It will have a heater, the washing machine has no guarantee of the temperature of "hot" water it will get from the supply so it has to be able to compensate. The supply certainly won't be as high as 95C for the hottest wash that most machines do.dave030445 wrote: »WM with hot /cold connectors may not have a built in heater so you will only get a cold wash.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
Most washing machines use so little water, that by the time the hot waters reaches the machine it will have already been filled, so depending how far you are from the boiler, hardly any hot water enters the machine and all you are doing is wasting energy heating up the pipes.0

Which is why modern machines, that use less water, only have a cold fill.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
