Hi,
Yes I'm another lurker here. I've been around for over a year reading the threads on OS religiously!
I'm 26 and work full time but the tips on this thread and others have helped change things for me immensely! Cut food bills from £80 pw to £15-20 for two. Decluttered a vans worth of furniture and other junk, and am fixing things like never before!
Thank you to all of you for sharing your tips, you help more people than you realise!
I'm going to try and post about MMMing this year so here goes:
Make do - trying to do food shopping only once a week as it's crept up again before Christmas, So making do with what's in the cupboard and eating up leftovers from the freezer.
Mending - had to mend another top I tore a hole in and fixing scratches in shoes. Still need to sort out bed sheet that's shrunk in dryer (no other way to dry it) and doesn't fit any longer. Not yet sure what to do.
Minimise - got rid of tree decs I wasn't keen on and all Christmas cards this year instead of letting them hang around. Sorted presents received too, some already in a pile for CS in another town! Learnt there's no need to feel guilty as it was the thought that counts.0 -

I had a few problems with my eyesight last year or so but this has made a huge difference, it's worth every pennyIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Good Morning chums its freezing here in north Kent so I am glad I don't have to go anywhere near a shop. Lots of stuff still to get through before I need any food shopping.
Last nights dinner was a object taken from the freezer that turned out to be a breadcrumbed spicy chicken breast that I had got Y/S and frozen before Christmas and it was delicious with some salad, followed by an very sweet orange from the lot I bought in Aldis earlier in the week. Their large navel ones are absolutely gorgeous and at £1.75 for four well worth the money.
Today I fancy some fish and I know I have some peppered mackerel in the freezer so tonight's meal will be that with another salad.I adore salads and am quite happy to eat them with virtually anything .Lunch will be some of my HM leek and potato soup and some cheese and crackers. All of which I have in the cupboards/freezer.
I am hoping to not go near a shop until all of my fresh fruit and veg is gone. I have checked through my stocks and I think I will be OK for at least another 10 day:):) Plus it give me more time to catch up on lots of to-do things that have been on the back burner.
I shall definitely be making do with what I have and minimising my freezer
As to mending well I do have a few jobs to do and I have made a list of them and will work through them over the next few days, plus of course I do have my charity blankets that I knit in the evenings when I am watching TV . So lots of things to keep me busy:):)
Onwards and upwards chums

Hi all Today I am going to make do with another portion of the fish pie and vegetables I had yesterday. I would like to empty my freezer and defrost it then do a good restock. I won't be doing any proper mending myself, but I will be sorting out my old shoes. I will get rid of the ones that are past salvaging, clean up the ones that I can still wear and put aside for mending any that need it. I have some spare insoles which I bought about a year ago on offer so I can replace worn ones. I have tended to keep really old flat shoes for "dirty" walks where I don't need my boots, but I think one or two pairs are sufficient for this (I hope to get an allotment so they will be useful). Any that don't fit the bill will be minimised.Grocery challenge 2017 January £158.74/£200

Hi,
Y
Thank you to all of you for sharing your tips, you help more people than you realise!
I'm going to try and post about MMMing this year so here goes:
Mending - had to mend another top I tore a hole in and fixing scratches in shoes. Still need to sort out bed sheet that's shrunk in dryer (no other way to dry it) and doesn't fit any longer. Not yet sure what to do.
Maybe keep the sheet to use to protect furniture if you decorate?0 -
Back from a nice walk with the dogs. I'm really lucky living by a river so beautiful walks along the quay. Even though it's rather chilly up their.
Making do with left over chilli and rice from freezer. My stores are starting to come down. My DD and SinL brought me a breville halo for Christmas and have cooked chips and roasties in them so far....delicious. Wish I'd got one before. Maybe it will help me in minimising me.0 -
Thank you all for the birthday wishes.
Jackie O My GD Holly will be 4 in April and much loved DD of my DS who is 40.
He never though he would marry until he met the love of his life at his 35th birthday party.
They married 6 months later then 12 months later came Holly.
Mend, Sewed the sleeves of OH cardigan.
Minimised,Some clothes to CS.
Thats all for today0 -
Make do: Used an upturned plant pot, plastic bird table tray (from a rotten bird table) and a heavy rock to make a low-level bird table. We seem to have a large group of juvenile blackbirds that were eating the windfallen apples from our apple tree; there's not a lot left now, and the ground is frozen solid, so thought would help out with refilling the feeders etc.
Mend: 3 of DH jumpers. Holes in the armpit, same place on every one. Not sure if these are 'work' or 'workshop' jumpers. It wouldn't matter so much if they were workshop jumpers, but i'd have thought that they may last longer without the holes...
Minimise: Frozen tomatoes from my YS haul a while back, for a pasta sauce tonight. I even put them in 400g measures, as a lot of recipes use the tinned ones in that size!No buying unnecessary toiletries 2017 UU 6

I was very lucky today as my neice got me lots of yellow sticker stuff from the supermarket where she works. Fish/veg/bread and pastries lovely.
Minimise Fish from freezer
Made do - With a blanket and not turning heating on till after the news
Mend - All this talk of shoes has made realise I have some that need a good polish.Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0 -
Made do with my old purse because the delivery of a new one is delayed! A treat using xmas vouchers will arrive on Monday
Only moneysaving because the vouchers were a gift!
Made a birthday card for my mum - although I cannot draw I can stick things onto a card that look pretty
Mended a pair of sandals - a strap had broken lose from the base. Glue and a couple of ,pegs to hold it while drying and they are fine now.
Minimised the ice in a client's freezer. Only took an hour and I cleaned cooker and worktops whilst initial defrost was being assisted by a large bowl of boiling water.I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0
