Made do with leftover HM soup for a late tea.
Minimised myself, in theory, an hour of a Davina get fit dvd! Phew :rotfl:
Mended... er, nothing! I went out for a long lunch with my friends

I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
  • Hi there, I'm another lurker keen to jump on board. I read this thread all last year, grateful to find like minded people, in my own way I've been a MMMer most of my life without realising it! Been a little reluctant to sign up, but it's a New Year and I see there are lots of new recruits signing up, so I thought what the heck ! I was back at work today after a lovely Christmas break, I made do by using up the crusts for sandwiches for work, I have mended the hems on a pair of mine and DS trousers, helped minimise a mini Christmas pudding that was looking sad in the cupboard ( not sure that counts, but it was tasty ! ) looking forward to being part of the MMM gang. Happy New Year to all.

More minimising yesterday on the food front. Homemade soup from freezer for lunch with homemade bread. Dinner was enchiladas made a couple of days ago.
Batch cooked some beef stroganoff in slow cooker- made up the recipe so hope it is ok!

I've been making do over Christmas with a dishwasher where the top arm isn't going round, so having to wash all the cups and glasses by hand then putting them in for a rinse (the spray from the bottom arm just about reaches but it isn't powerful enough to wash.

We've had a go at mending it. Dh pulled it out and checked the pump and the sump for blockages, but nothing. No blockages in the spray arm assembly either. Googling suggests it could be the water inlet valve, the pump, or the motor on its way out. All of which are individually expensive and there's no way of knowing in advance which it is. So a fail on the mending front. It doesn't owe us anything, it's a good 17 years old but still

But at least by packing up while the sales are on it has enabled us to minimise the cost of a replacement.

From one extreme to another, we had a special meal on Monday because DD1 was back to work next day and had back to work blues. So I made pommes dauphinoise but I completely misjudged the amount of milk and cream and it was still very sloppy and not absorbing the liquid even when the potatoes were soft. So I mended it by baling out the surplus into a jug and last night I made do and minimised it by adding an egg to the leftover milk/cream and used it for a quiche filling. Absolutely yum, probably because there was a bit of garlic in it - I don't normally add garlic to quiches but I will do now
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I went out to my quiz friends house for dinner last night so nothing to cook but when I came home I chopped up three large leeks and peeled some spuds, added a bit of garlic and some stock and chucked them all into the slow cooker and left it on low all night.Result was two litres of delicious leek and tattie soup this morning, so several lunches are sorted for this week, enough to do me until Saturday when I am off for the weekend again to my sis-in-laws in London.really enjoy being creative with food this month and digging around the freezer means its a bit of a russian roulette for meals as you never know what you will find I discovered some salmon fish cakes this morning which will do for dinner tonight with steamed veg.No shopping at all this week to buy :):):) and probably next week as well.

No mending to do although I did put a new hook up in the kitchen to replace the one that had fallen off the wall

    Onwards and upwards chums

Seven of my long sleeved t-shirts full of holes (mended 'til they could be mended no more) now cut up and turned into a bag full of rags for cleaning. I've never had such colourful cleaning rags before! The striped ones will be used for the kitchen only. I replaced them with four new t-shirts bought in the sales.

Edited to add: just got round to de-bobbling a very nice woollen sweater inherited from my son. Now ready to wear again.

Making Do - using up the rest of a horrid shampoo to wash my makeup brushes and sponges - I can't believe the prices some places charge for special 'brush cleaners!'. I shall continue to use a facial wash I don't use anymore to clean them next. It's all soap, after all...

Mend - does cleaning the makeup brushes count? Some are 5 years old, and treated with care, should last a while longer!

Minimise - Christmas tree and associated decs taken down, then returned to the attic on the same day!

Lol, Harvest festivals - that's what my mam called them too!
I'm definitely a 'big knicker' girl, my DGDs usually have a good giggle when they see the size of my pants.

I'm guessing that YS means Yellow Sticker, as in whoopsied, reduced to clear? If so, I bought a huge gammon joint yesterday for £4 - had been £13. 2/3 of it have been bubbling away in the slow cooker all day with a bottle of roller cola and a bit of veg and spices. That will be a roast tea tonight, sandwiches for a few days and a big pan of broth. (Also bought some YS veg). Other 1/3 in the freezer.
I have minimised 1 bank account - had £31 in an old account so I have closed that.
Christmas cards down, and in a bag ready to take to M&S for recycling as can't put them in normal recycling bin. I did keep a few bits from them for the craft box.
Also looked up who takes old prescription glasses, the optician at our local Tesco does, so another bag sorted ready to go out.
I have made do with wearing yesterdays clothes again as I really need to minimise the amount of washing I do.
Nothing mended - tried to take boots to cobblers but it was shut.
