Hi All
I found the thread last year and became a lurker - would love to join in this year. Looking forward to adding make do, mend and minimise to my lifestyle.
Looking forward to reading all your posts.Sometimes you just have to throw on a crown and remind them who they are dealing with0 -
Afternoon
No MMMing to report really, just popping by to say hi
Me and OH bought carpets yesterday so they will get fitted in about 3 weeks time. Does mean the debt has risen again but there's a plan in place to minimise it all by the end of the year.
I got a good YS haul yesterday so freezer is full again. We're having sausage and mushroom pasta for tea tonight with hm garlic breadMortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.980 -
Making do with a meal made of various found objects from the freezer and cupboard! - some sweet potato chunks, chopped Spring greens, a bit of onion, and some oats to bulk it up a bit. Added a bit of seasoning and a quarter of a small Camembert. Delicious, and contains all the food groups.
No mending or minimising today, as not feeling up to the mark - heavy cold. But, I have been filing away some bills etc.Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -

Minimise - removed all the excess toiletries from the shower and I am now focusing on emptying one at a time. Also making an effort to use body lotion etc instead of it decorating a cupboard.
Lol Pauline, I need to do that too! I have a quarter used bottle of shower gel that has been there for at least 9 months  'cos i 'went off it! Amongst many other things!
I do admire anyone who can finish the matching shampoo and conditioner at the same time though.
As well as using up all the open things first I have decided to use up the very many samples and 'complimentary' hotel toiletries that I have collected!
What is it about body lotion? We think it is lovely when we get it but... I think I have enough to keep me well moisturised for another 5 years and I have a lot of body to cover!.0 -
I use the tiny jars of jam, honey that I get given to me by my much travelled grandson etc as additions to plain yogurt. No different than those expensive Mu***er corner yogurts, and the shampoo's/ shower gels get drained into one empty washing up bottle and taken with me on holiday in August when my 4 DGS go through bottles of shampoo and shower gel every night after a day on the beach.0

Busy day today - most of it unplanned!
Made do with left over boiled potatoes sliced and covered in a cheese sauce with lamb chops and some YS spring greens.
Minimised by taking some stuff to the CS not sure about a mend though - did go for a 2 mile walk with DS1. I'm trying to increase my walking to get fitted - we shall see!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Bath products are NOT something I consider minimizing....a few years go I was rushed to hospital with a serious skin condition...part of the treatment plan is that I no longer use ANY bath products other than the stuff I get prescribed....this means I get soapless gunk, moisturiser and shampoo free of charge (I don't pay for prescriptions)...but I no longer get to use ANY lovely scented products!
I have made a start on my OCC boxes already!...and am using up some oddments from my knitting basket to make bags and purses.
I have an apple that is going to go wrinkly if not eaten soon...a couple of clementines ...and a small handful of grapes tucked at the back of the fridge...so fruit salad tomorrow! (There WAS a banana going a bit brown...but that got smothered in custard!!!!)0 -

My DH can only use the prescribed, soapless gunk now (also free of charge) but that means my stash is going to last so much longer...
Today I have made do with my other half who is suffering from a cold/man flu/ chest infection
If I can't mend him soon he is likely to be minimised :rotfl:0 -
Evening
So far today I have minimised 2 tee shirts by passing them on to a friend.
Made do with fish from the freezer for tomorrow's main meal.
I haven't mended anything but I have had my car exhaust repaired for £20.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Made do with some rice cakes and grated cheese tonight, as I didn't fancy cooking.
I had been to Bluewater (a big shopping precinct) to see the man in the Apple shop and had a freebie coffee and cake via my voucher from JL so I wasn't really fancying my bangers and mash as I was a bit full up from the smashing chocolate and orange cake:):) But no matter I shall have them tomorrow night instead.
No mending ,but the Apple guy said the repair man will ring me in the morning to help sort out my Ipad.
My eldest DD bought a new one, and let me have her old one and I can get everything to work on there apart from my emails I have a Macbook lap-top and a small Ipod and the mail works fine on that ,but the blessed Ipad won't do a thing except tell me to try again:):) I think Apple is responsible for much raise blood pressure at times
:):)
