Hello All,
I ve not fallen off the edge of the planet!!! Its been manic here! Happy New Year, belatedly! Hope to catch up with you all over next few days and will then post for longer!
Mending this year will be my finances as, at the moment, I have my son, his partner their baby (my much beloved GD) and their two large dogs staying in my tiny house -designed for one person plus occasional short term guest! They need to find a house and jobs after a really rough patch - soon, please, as much as I shall miss them. The electric bill has doubled! Athough they are v good re buying food etc.
Making do will be less costly activities as will need to save pennies.
Minimise me and my debt!! And the piles of paperwork I moved house with last year!!!
Nite all - will catch up reading ASAP

Hello everyone
Things going well here...
Make do - made cheese and lentil wedges yesterday and realised, as I was starting it, we were a bit short of lentils. Improvised by substituting some brown rice and it worked well. Also, currently making do with food we have in from Saturday to Wednesday. Did a small shop on Saturday and used up the last of the month's food budget which doesn't get replenished until Wednesday, but have enough fruit, veg, bread and stuff in freezer.
Mend - mended two pairs of undies, one with a hole and one with a rip.
Minimised - two bags out of the house to the charity shop. Also, cleared out the cutlery drawer and got rid of broken stuff and lots of papers that had collected in there.
Hope everyone's staying warm and has a good week!0 -
Morning all
Couldn't finish all of my steak on Saturday so used the leftovers for a steak and onion baguette last night - very yummy. Tonight's tea is going to be egg fried rice which will use up the last of a packet of chorizo.
Still not found my sewing kit so no mending. There's still so much to unpack, it could be anywhere. The plan is to look at carpets tomorrow so hopefully it won't be long until we can unpack the rest.
Made do by using OH's deodorant this morning so definitely need to pop to the shops after work.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50

Since my last post we've managed to:
Make do - eat out of the freezer and cupboards. With the exception of some fresh veg, I'm hoping to stretch for another 8 days before going to the supermarket. Even then I might try an online shop to avoid temptation.
Mend - the part came for the grill/top oven so we now have a fully working cooker. Really pleased as this is the second repair we've done ourselves with the help of online parts and youtube videos. We do a lot of cooking so its great to extend the life of our trusty appliance!
Minimise - Took the bag of unwanted wool to the CS and a load of books back to the library.
Really enjoying this challenge.....

Morning mmmers
Made butternut leek and walnut tarts yesterday, having them again toninght to use up what is left.
Also did a blackberry crumble as we have a glut of blackberries in the freezer.
Swapped 4 of te lightblubs over to the LED ones, which are supposed to be more MSE, they certainly produce more light and don't seem to have to warm up like the low energy ones we had.
Want to get the sewing machine out today and do a bit of mending. Apart from that I've got tidying and ironing planned for today. Only got a lunchtime shift at paid stuff so will hopefully get everything else done.
Have a good day all.SPC~12 ot 124

Good morning everyone. Reading through since my last post it looks as if we are all still very focused on MMM'ing!
Made do with leftovers for lunch yesterday as we were going to DD for tea. This has meant the fridge is now almost empty, so a trip to the supermarket will be needed - after I've shopped from the freezer to see what I don't need to buy!
Minimised the wardrobe as I said I planned to, so a few things for the CS in a bag now, along with some books already sorted to go.
Unpicked a label from a blouse which was driving me crazy itching when I wore it - what have M&S done, I seem to have to do all the time now. Anyway, that's my mending offering - I've been avoiding doing it so the blouse has been unworn for ages and now it's back in use!0 -
Morning All
Miserable day, just finished my school run and am staying put for the rest of the day.
Making do with sausage casserole leftovers for dinner tonight, will just add a baked potato.
Minimised some books ready for the charity shop, I got four as Christmas presents but read them all now.
Mending - none to do today.Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0 -
Morning all,
Terrible night of not sleeping but still have to come to work so to prevent my usual buying off the sandwich truck, brought some HM risotto with me for lunch, some bread pudding for breakfast (we were late rising) and half the contents of the fruit bowl.
This weekend I minimised the ironing pile, only to build another one, finally put little one's Christmas things away, bagged up a huge bag for charity - will drop off tomorrow and mended my birthday card box by using some fablon I found at the back of my cupboard.
Went to £shop which were selling xmas things for 5p so bought a lot of gifts ready for this years Christmas box appeal, mini photo frames ready for the craft birthday party my little one wants and only spent £1.60.
Still making meals by eating out of the freezer and tonight's make will be a new cushion for cats bed using some PJs which make me itch - he seems to like them though!Debt to pay off: £1600 Jan £1400
Emergency Fund £200 £230 saved of £10000 -
Good morning,
Correction about yesterday, there was some Mending after all, stitched up a few moth holes in my nice cashmere cardi, bought second hand and already with those holes, ages ago, and revived after my big clothes overhaul.
Today:
Make Do: My lunch is leftovers of last night dinner and wearing thick woolen jumper instead of putting heating on (see below).
Mend: Stitched a great big moth hole in my un-minimised thick woolen jumper which I am now wearing and am so delighted I un-minimised because it is keeping me warm instead of putting heating on.
Minimise: nothing so far but if I have enough time and energy I will start getting a few books together to give to charity. UPDATE: minimising my old duvet to the Cats Protection League, they always need them in the catteries. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Made some leek and potato soup for this weeks lunches also a banana custard from one of the bananas that DD gave me last night (the other one I used for breakfast this morning with my bran flakes)
Minimised my ironing pile, am just awaiting my DGS to come in from school as last night as I was going home he said can you bring your sewing stuff tomorrow Granny ,so who knows what I will be mending when he gets in from school:):)
