I am travelling for the next 6 months, visiting New Zealand, Fiji, Australia, Japan, Philippines and Vietnam. What are the best ways to make sure I have access to my money at all times?

Take several of the recommended cards (credit/prepaid), in case of any failure or loss etc.
And don't keep all of the cards in one place!
Make sure you keep a copy of the emergency contact telephone number for each somewhere safe. Also find out which of your card providers will be able to get a replacement card to you in Timbuktu. Some will only deliver replacements to a UK address.
I use the Halifax Clarity as my main travel card but also have a Caxton FX with around £100 preloaded. I will also have my regular UK debit and credit cards with me but they stay well hidden and I can't remember the last time I used them abroad.
If travelling in SE Asia then an emergency supply of US dollars can also be useful. When all else fails it's amazing what a doors a crisp $20 bill will open.0 -
Good advice, but make sure it is crisp - any tiny rip or imperfection and the note will not be accepted.Doshwaster wrote: »When all else fails it's amazing what a doors a crisp $20 bill will open.0
