  • Thank you Lucielle and dawneybabes.

I’ve tried to have more NSDs this week. My hours change at Job 2 in October. Had a bit of a wobble about it this week. I think it will be fine…SO has got groceries for the last 2 weeks and, bless him, cooked me tea before work. I know I can’t keep doing the pace I have long term and cutting down a shift is a sensible thing to do.

DD3 is looking for a new job to cover when her seasonal job ends in the next few weeks. She is still studying so needs a small job to balance!

  • Delurking to say lovely photo , what a blessing living near all these places . It's so good to hear how you are getting on these days you sound very happy. I too had a second job for about 5 yrs supporting my children through university as their father didn't want to help . I hope in October you get a better work life balance . Have a good weekend.
Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.

  • I agree cutting down the shifts will be better long term for you.

    That picture is gorgeous x

Don't worry. Think of how far you've come rather than how far you've still got to go. At the beg you were working part-time and had a lot more mouths at home to feed.

Is DD3 picking up any of your dropped shifts at job2 a feasibility? I know some of my DH's relatives who lived in a coastal/tourist area changed their jobs to being employed at the supermarkets so  it was year round work rather than seasonal.

Just do what you can to get ahead, store cupboard to fall back on etc. Totally agree this is a better long term situation for you and yes gorgeous photo..

Thank you Sunshine_girl2, SH, Spendless and Willowtree222.

SH- it is a lovely place to live and I do count my blessings and encourage my children ( and class) to do the same!

Today is payday. I’ve moved money to the various pots to account for bills and direct debits that will come out tomorrow.  This month  is a child’s birthday but a 21st so will incur some extra spending to allow for the  celebration of the birthday!

DD3 and I harvested some of the apples off the tree. We are enjoying apple and blackberry crumble, apple amber and apple flapjack! We’ve introduced SO’s children to apple amber. Opinions are divided!

From the apple trees I've seen, it seems to have been a good year for apples.

Do you have baked apples, and what to you put in them?

Happy 21st and congratulations to the appropriate child!
