Hi Pieta77 - Thank you for reading and for your kind words. That’s a really interesting idea, a different perspective. You are right, it’s finding a mortgage provider that will see past the average algorithms. It would be cheaper for me to take on a mortgage than to pay local rents for a house that would be big enough.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Made it to the Easter holidays😊. The weather is delightfully sunny today and am hoping to get to the allotment in a jiffy. I’ve spent some time weeding the pathways outside this morning and have potted on some Cerinthe and some lettuce. I would have done more but I ran out of compost.
Yesterday was very stressful...the ex had swopped evenings but I couldn’t manage another evening this week with the ex here so I went to the beach. I took “The Salt Path” and read a few chapters on the beach, which was quite atmospheric listening to the waves as I read. The tide was coming in so I left before sunset but enjoyed every minute of being there.
Unfortunately I’ve had some tricky issues to deal with this week with DS1 and separately with DS2. Suffice to say DS1 has proved yet again a level of disrespect towards me that I find I am beyond words.
Finally got round to filling in the Census form...took quite a while! I’d had to wait for an extension booklet😉. £50 paid off debts yesterday so slow progress but still progress.

I am very relieved that I haven't been unceremoniously drummed out of the thread for being a rebel!
Sending commiserations for the horrible week. I often find that ghastly things happen at the same time when no one has the stamina to sort them. I`ve been putting out fires all week!
During Covid all the white goods etc decided to ` die` including the pc, printer, washing machine etc. My extra income usually from `house guests` all stopped too. Now my mobile phone joined suit and I have lost all my numbers etc. Luckily my dil has helped me out but it really highlights to me that I have so many gaps with phones and IT.
To deal with one son is difficult but two at the same time... aaarrggh. You need some sunshine + escaping from the dastardly ex!
I am trying to focus on all the lovely things such as my lovely disabled grandson getting a special Jack Petchey award and the family hopefully getting their adjustments to their house to help them cope. Also having my granddaughter back two days a week..4 -
Thank you SA and Janb5.
Jan - sorry to read about the technology / machine difficulties. It is bizarre how things just seem to go at the same time. Had that with the oven and hob a year ago. That’s great that you can see your granddaughter again and your grandson getting an award.
Yesterday afternoon was lovely...the older DSs were out so most of the DDs and DS3 went to the allotment. We were able to clear back the pathways and chop back some brambles. DD4 has a seed bomb that she was given and is keen to use, so I thought if I could get rid of the nettles and their roots, she could then throw the meadow flower seeds on the soil. I chopped back the dead stems of the lemon balm plants. They are such useful plants. When you brush past, they given off a citrusy aroma and self seed freely, which is so useful for weed suppression 😉☺️. I also use some stems to put with cut flowers in the summer.
The cerinthe was repotted yesterday until I ran out of compost! The Tigerella tomatoes look as if they will need potting on next. I also need to get some courgettes sown today at some point.
Hoping to see my parents today in their garden. I thought that we were more able to be outside, especially if it dropped cooler, then at least they could be in their conservatory with the doors open and not get cold. I quite like pottering around their garden while I visit and crack on with the jobs that need doing and I like doing but they don’t feel quite so enthusiastic about😁.
Off to make some Simmnel muffins. Have a super Saturday everyone.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

The visit to my parents went well. It was sunny and their garden is quite sheltered in parts so we were able to be outside without anyone getting cold. I was able to crack on in the garden and get a border weeded. There was a very friendly robin that was watching closely! We planted a tree that was in danger of being pot bound. It was lovely for us to see each other again, grandparents and grandchildren each enjoying the company of the other.
We left in good time to be home to cook tea ( we are in the same county). I have been quite lazy and simply read for pleasure last night. I finished “The Salt Path” ( so glad you mentioned it on your diary OBL🙂) and read the life story of Nicole Mullen, an American singer/songwriter which was a thought provoking read. My lovely brother gave me “The Wild Silence” for my birthday so looking forward to getting started on that one. I’d also like to reread Monty Don’s “ The Jewel Garden” at some point over the holidays.
Today’s plans are church on Zoom followed by an Easter egg hunt at the allotment. I need to make another batch of simnel muffins and hope to get out for a decent length walk🥾.
