It’s so sad the amount of money pubs/restaurants must be losing right now. Especially over the festive season, absolutely dire when they tried so hard to put measures in place to make everything safe 😩I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Hello HSL, I'm so glad you've had a lovely Christmas with the family together and such a thoughtful gift for you. Your walks all sound lovely. We accidentally did 5 miles through all the bogs today. Kids were happy until after 2 hours in dripping wet. Merry Christmas lovely xxx

The lack of sleep is problematical. Like you, I was kept awake by the gales and then we have the colder weather tomorrow to look forward to!
I`ve been trying to start some socks for my son but the wool I bought ages ago is knotting easily so may reject it in disgust!5 -

Thank you SA, Kitten868, Janb5, OBL & Lucielle.
Hope the wool is behaving itself Jan! Knitting is a labour of love as it is without the wool not cooperating😉!
OBL - I love Hellebores, bringing a splash of colour when everything else is grey!
Thank you Kitten868- merry Christmas to you and yours.
Today has been a hibernation kind of day. We’ve had gales all day and plenty of rain, plus the odd power cut though, thankfully not for too long. I spent much of the day getting planning and prep sorted for the new term. I’m assuming and hoping that the year group I teach will be fine to start next week.
I checked my pay slip from Job no 2 and to my surprise I found a £50 Christmas bonus had been included. It was very generous, especially as I haven’t been there that long. I used it today to pay £50 off the first window loan. That brings the remaining balance down to £477. The usual monthly payment comes out on Thursday which should knock it down to sub £450. I’m hoping that my salary on Thursday will be slightly higher due to delayed application of a pay rise in September which I’m hoping I can use to make another overpayment on this window loan. I am determined to get these debts gone this year.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Lovely to have the extra cash - both to pay more off the windows and in terms of interest you won't be paying in the future!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Thank you Janb5, SA & Cherryfudge.
Cherryfudge - I have a wonderfully, fascinating amortisation chart for each debt on this app I downloaded a year ago. It shows the effect of an overpayment on the future interest levels. I think paying the £50 has saved me a couple of pounds in interest and shaved a month off the length of the loan!😁
Yesterday, I don’t feel that I achieved very much. It was one of those days where different children needed me to help with various things. I couldn’t get round to everyone, so will still need to take DD3 out for some driving practice at some point. I didn’t get round to any work tasks either so will need to be doubly productive today.
I did manage one plumbing task yesterday that was quite urgent. I bought the equipment necessary back in the summer, for £25 and have had cause to use it twice now. I know that if I had had to call in someone it would easily have been a bill of a couple of hundred pounds, but with prayer, sweat and tears got the task done.
We also managed a walk around the local woods.it wasn’t a huge walk as we had the elderly lurcher with us but was nonetheless time well spent outside. I was surprised that a couple of trees were down right across the path but some kind individual had hewn out steps around the trunk so that safe passage was possible.
The last of the tips were paid in so one of the savings pot has been replenished a little after the garage bill left most pots empty. Payday is tomorrow for Job no 1 so I have carefully written my list of where each penny is going.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.
