    Morning HSL,

Walk sounds lovely. And I love it when you realise how far they actually can walk. My two not only walked far yesterday but jumped in every puddle too.

Did you check out the loan eligibility tool on mse for consolidating all your little loans? Changing it to one payment with so much less interest. I know you're finding it hard at the moment and it would be great to get another stress off your list - you've seen how transformative the dishwasher and tumble drier have been for you. Not to say it'll make school any easier but certainly halves your work at home. Great news on the decluttering xxxx

  • Thank you Kitten868. Yes I did use the eligibility tool, just need to have a spare chunk of time to apply and get it sorted. A smaller interest rate would make a huge difference.

DD4 and 5 made necklaces from the shells they had collected on Sat. Really simple, bit of jute cut to size and shells in. They were really happy with that!

Yesterday was lots of housework :(. I know it needs doing but such a battle when it was so nice outside! DS3 now has his own bed. He was really excited until bedtime when he thought my bed looked a better option! NSD yesterday, but not today, sadly.

Did he go in his bed? Or do you still have a room mate?
    The shell necklaces sound lovely.

Im chuffed youve found a decent rate! I did think you would - you never apply for credit and you always make your payments.

I think the weather will be lovely until the easter holidays. Itll rain once the kids are out so we have a little longer with the sunshine xxx

  • Thank you Kitten 868. DS3 loves his duvet and cover and is very proud to show everyone but is still reluctant to sleep in the bed!

Glad to have got through another working week. This week has been a little less stressful work wise but not sure if it's because it really was, or whether extra stress from the ex is making work seem comparatively less stressful. I have lots to do tomorrow on my day off including collecting a prescription, making sure that DD3 has Euros for her trip abroad next week, purchasing extra drinks and food for her very long journey and remembering to get a Mother's Day gift for my mum. My grandmother's birthday and Mother's Day combine on the same weekend so am trying to make sure I am sensitive to my mum's feelings/ grief. DD1 celebrates her birthday this weekend...but sadly not at home. We don't collect her until next week.

The weather has been beautiful today. I haven't got home early enough to get out for a walk but have appreciated the blossom on the trees on the journey home.

  • Well I was able to get quite a few little jobs done, that have been mounting up. Collected my prescription, got the Euros for DD3, posted a birthday card and gift card for DD1, emailed the solicitor and have an appointment for next week to sort out the next bit of the separation journey.

I was able to meet up with two friends today. We have all had birthdays in the last 3 weeks so we went out for a combined celebration lunch. We walked a bit of the cliff path first( a new part to me). It was absolutely stunning. There was a bit of lingering sea mist but watching the sea itself was delightful. As ever the outdoors and the sea are so restorative. Lunch was in a beautifully quirky cafe. I had one of the cheapest options on the menu and a couple of lattes...a real treat.

Unfortunately on the way back home, as I wound down my window, I heard this terrible crunching sound and my window is stuck. From googling, it would appear that the electric window mechanism is prone to fault on the particular car I drive. I couldn't get to look at it this evening as I had to do a fair amount of taxiing of children although I did use DS1's van to do a couple of the journeys. I will endeavour to look at it tomorrow in full daylight to see if it's anything I can tackle, even if only to shut the window again.

It was payday today so will sit down this evening and check off where everything is going. I did pay the boiler service bill today (£140) even though there was nothing to be done. At least they tried. The company said they could come and give me a free quote so I have an idea of how much I'm looking at for a replacement.

You do sound busy! I'm sorry to hear the ex is being troublesome, especially when you have so much else to juggle.
I hope your DD has a lovely trip! DS2 is off travelling as well: I've got used to the older ones going but I worry about him... Still, the sooner they go, the sooner we see them again. :)

Cross posted, sorry. I hope the car window is easy to fix.

  • That's a good way of looking at it...the sooner they go, the sooner they'll be back. Thank you Cherryfudge! DD3 is my most sensible child, so is most likely to text at various intervals. Hoping for regular updates!

  • A busy day today. I followed the step by step instructions on a website to try and look at the car window. The torx screws nearly defeated me as I couldn't turn them, but DS's friend had helped his dad to replace the mechanism in their car and managed to get those screws to move. The window is now back up but I need to get an electric window repair kit. I've spotted them online so hopefully should be about £10 or £15.

Nursery fees were paid today, the last lot of this term :). Later this afternoon, I finally got outside to pot on these poor tomato plants. The plants have been potted up individually into 3" pots...all 34 of them!, Took the oppportunity to sow some nasturtium seeds and a few sweet pea seeds. The sweet pea variety is " Purple Pimpernel", Simply stunning.:). It's been so good to garden this weekend. I haven't done many tasks for work so will have to be busy tomorrow.

Of course I had to look up Purple Pimpernel, and it does indeed look beautiful. I've spent ages battling the lawn today as well as what's now a regular discussion with the neighbour about why on earth people pay for grape hyacinths. :D I love the colour but they are taking over.
Good to hear you have the nursery fees out of the way, and well done for tackling the car window. I'm sure it would cost you massively more than £10-15 to have a mechanic do it.
