Also notify the owner(s) of the roads that you expect them to pursue the companies that are damaging the road.
I was thinking this, but it seems that they are actively refusing to take the 10% of the upkeep costs that the petrol station/shop are meant to be paying. This additional money could repair the damage.0 -

OK, but against who?To end this once and for all I feel I need to use the legal route,
The people who are doing something wrong are the truck drivers. Do you plan on taking them to court? Each and every one of them?
Clearly, your current signage is inadequate to get the message across. Will any signage be adequate? <shrug> Will better signage give you a better change? Probably. Will that better signage be deeemed too visually intrusive? Perhaps.0 -

It may even be that (beyond the damage issue), the truck drivers aren't doing anything wrong, as they are acting under instruction of the shop owner who has permission to use the road in relation to their use of the shop.0 -

Is the private road new? Was it built at the same time as your house was built? If it is new how were deliveries made to the shop before the new private road was built?0

Yes the road was built with the houses. The land previously was an orchard. Is the private road new? Was it built at the same time as your house was built? If it is new how were deliveries made to the shop before the new private road was built?
Deliveries were previously made to the forecourt (as I am told).0 -

We certainly could improve the signage so that it is more visible. We're after a longterm solution though.
Regarding legal cover, looks like then the overall consensus here is that any action will be difficult and expensive. We have arranged today for estate agents to come round to put house on the market.0
