Flight delay outside EU

Options
After a cruise from Dubai, we were scheduled to fly home from Dubai with Thomson Fly. Due to weather and staff over hours, our flight was delayed over 25 hours. Eventuallly we got food, then put up at a hotel overnight. Like delayed EU flights can we claim for this delayed flight from Dubai?

in short - Thomson is an EU airline so flights both from and to the EU are covered
weather is not within the control of the airline so whilst EU261 Duty of Care applies (accommodation/meals during delay) compensation does not
There is a Thomson thread for Thomson posts
  • Thank you for that. I am sure that we will have to pursue any claim with our travel insurers.
  • post your flight details
  • Hi there - similar to above as we're flying back to the UK and wondering what our rights are for compensation. Scheduled to leave Toronto Pearson at 18:40, currently delayed until 22:15. Not quite four hours but it could be... Airline is Air Canada, reason for delay is due to a bird strike on the incoming flight, meaning we have no plane. I'm aware that shouldn't count as extraordinary circumstances as it's not our flight that is directly affected, but not sure on our position as we're travelling to the EU with a non EU airline. Obviously it's still worth a try but just wondering whether anyone's had any experience with this kind of situation? I can only see advice based on flights leaving the EU. Thank you!

Unfortunately flying into an EU country with an Airline registered outside the EU does not qualify for compensation sorry.
