If DVLA don't need to know, then telling them will have zero effect.
If telling them has an effect, then they DID need to know.0 -
Doctors are saying the dvla need to know so they should have been informed at the time.DEBTMONKEY1A wrote: »....(the 'telling them' bit is down to me & not GP......0

She is no doubt covering her rear end.
But if, despite your doctor saying you are fine to drive, you want to get into the kafkaesque world that is the DVLA, with forms to complete, letters to send to allow access to records, letters needed from doctors, consultants/surgeons, etc. etc. Then that is your choice, but understand you could be without your licence for circa 3 months. And at the end of the process you are likely to be where you are today with your doctors(s) saying you are fit to drive.0 -
Johno 100-my thoughts (& others) exactly. Quentin-we must have 'crossed' in cyberspace! Local Law centre/CAB (who record calls & will let them be used for legal issues & released) said ulness GP said 'you can't drive for 3 months or more' there is no need to contact the CAB at all-which she repeated twice.
Otherwise...65% of the male/female population would be calling the DVLA on Monday am re: weekend 'misuse' !0 -

Mmmm, I don't think 65% have your problem.0 -
You've already gone beyond what was necessary by telling your insurers. As all your medical opinions say you are fit to drive, there is nothing to tell DVLA.
On no account phone them up 'without giving my exact details'; that could be asking for trouble.0 -
I'm confused about what sort of conversation you're planning to have with the DVLA.
You say you've never been assessed as not fit to drive and the DVLA have never been told that you're not fit to drive. Now you're planning to tell them that you are fit to drive. Isn't that going to sound really odd?
They're going to assume that someone should have informed them, at some point, that you were unfit, otherwise why now tell them otherwise? The phrase 'can of worms' springs to mind.0
