I have a problem with my 'pooter.
I can be typing as I am here, then suddenly, the window closes.
Not just on Windows either - has happened with email also.
Any ideas?

have you done a thorugh virus/malware etc scan on your computer ?
what os are you running and what memory/processor have you installed ?0 -
Done virus scan (panda) and scans with ad-aware and spybot - all clean. (apart from registry entry for a poker site i used to play on - now removed)
OS is XP Home
Processor is Athlon - cant tell you exact speed, but know it was high spec around 12 months ago (think its about 2.5).
Also, dont know if it makes a difference or not, but this seems to happen when pressing <space> - but obviously not all the time.No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Try superantispyware and go through the malware removal sticky posts 1 to 4."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Using internet explorer run a virus scan with Kaspersky online scanner
http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner it's free, so doesn't remove any viruses found.
Then download and run the trial version of spyware doctor.
http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/?ref=google_sd&gclid=CNfOoYvC2Y4CFQ0eEgodOCjhAw
Again it won't remove any viruses found.
Both are very good and if you find viruses you can ask on here how to remove them.0 -

If you are sure it is not virus or malware related - is it a heat issue? Have you had your machine apart?0

Next time it happens go to:
Right click my computer icon, / START / My Computer (icon) / MANAGE / EVENT VIEWER / SYSTEM
And look for an error code around the date/time it shut down, then post it here.0 -
i used to have similar problems a few years back, that was due to a crappy psu.0

Yea I had something similar the other day. But instead of windows shutting down they were minimizing, and then magnifying. One of my cats walked over the keyboard lol. But cant remember what I did to rectify it, something to do with the function key and the keyboard layout, or shortcuts, dunno. If I remember I will post asap.To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0
