  • There are delays in sending the paperwork out too. I'm still waiting from over a week ago. The guy on the phone apologised and said they have had a lot of applications, which is fair enough.

Just to point out that if you do qualify for the gift card it is worth signing up for their loyalty scheme 'Sparks' as you sometimes get extra discount on certain products.
You usually are offered 4 offers and choose 2- it certainly made my 'free' money go further.
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I applied 27th May - called up a few times and basically said they are inundated with applications and gave me the day they are currently working on, I could say it was roughly one day at a time.

Anyway today I get an email asking me to contact them regarding my application so I did. There is a query on my employers address - think it was because they asked for a building name but there isnt one - so after speaking to them I am not told ANOTHER two weeks for them to deal with the query!

FIVE WEEKS to open a bank account?!!!
  • I got the approved email a month ago. I'm still waiting for the paperwork to sign...

Quite a lucrative exercise then, albeit not the result you really wanted?

Would have preferred the account but almost expected it as FD don’t like me and can’t see their criteria differing much.

Didn’t expect the £75 (or anything really) but didn’t feel a five week wait was ultimately worth it so complained. She listened into all my calls, and luckily so the guy who offered the removal of the credit search gave me his extension number so they upheld all of my complaint.

Good result in the end, but in reality they were the architects of their own downfall.

Love the ‘this isn’t compensation’ comment :D
