I am a first time buyer and we can afford to buy a house without stretching ourselves. In fact to get a house rented that I would be happy with you would involved the same payment per month (I would get more bedrooms but there is only 2 of us and I have no idea what I would do with 4 bedrooms)
Yes, and as if things weren't bad enough I can't decide which colour to order my latest chelsea tractor in. My last one got a caviar stain on the upholstery so there's no way it's driveable in that condition.
Sorry, but your post is just twisting the knife at those less fortunate than you.0 -

? Because we have decided to buy a small house rather than rent a bigger house? What I meant by not stretching is that we have ensured the monthly mortgage payment is something we could afford if only one of us was in work for any reason. Why is posting that they can rent and save money as several posters have said not boasting?0 -

Maybe I've completely misunderstood your comment. If that's the case I'm sorry. It's the remark about "I would get more bedrooms but there is only 2 of us and I have no idea what I would do with 4 bedrooms", that I was referring to.0 -

I find that I am visiting sites more now that the market is looking iffy and I am only browsing. What area are you in?RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Sorry I was comparing the fact that if I rented with the money I am putting towards a mortgage I could get a bigger house but it wouldn't be mine and what would be the point of a bigger house anyway. Sorry if I am not making sense I've just put a final offer in and am feeling antsy!!!0 -
I know three people buying at the moment - me, Pete and Sarah (not real names).
- I have just completed (2nd purchase but was in rented for a few months).
- Sarah is due to complete in 2 weeks (FTB - no qualms).
- Pete has just pulled out of his BTL purchase but purely due to a problem with the lease. He is now back on the house-hunt.
Maybe I just happen to know an unusual cross-section of people!
Edit: Forgot, my sister just completed on her new house last month too (FTB).Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

Since this thread has been dredged up from last August, I'm curious. How much have West London prices dropped by? Anyone know?0 -
"How many people pulling out?"
Not enough. I gather the birth rate is rising.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
