Apple iPads delivered to wrong address 1 week ago

Hi, I ordered two iPad minis for Christmas presents for my young daughters last Monday. They had a guaranteed next day delivery. I waited in all Tuesday for them, periodically checking the tracking information to see if there were any updates on their whereabouts.
After the morning update which said 'out for delivery', there were no further updates until around 7pm that evening (by which point I was wondering where they were!). It said my iPads had been delivered at 11:44am that day and signed for by someone I have never heard of. It also had the location down as Runcorn, when I am in Liverpool. Why the tracking never updated until the evening, I will never know.

Anyway, I got straight on the case to Apple (where I had ordered the iPads from) to let them know that I hadn't received the iPads. They said they would have to issue a 'shipping investigation' and that after 48 hours, they would issue replacement iPads.
It has now been almost a week since I was meant to receive the original iPads I ordered, and Apple have been utterly disappointing. I have called and emailed several times a day (bar Christmas day) to be met with promise after promise that they are doing what they can to resolve this matter.

Upto this point, they have said that UK Mail (the courier) haven't even interviewed the driver yet! Surely that is one of the first things that should have happened?! I'm in absolute shock that nearly £700s worth of items could be delivered to a wrong address, and that I am still having to wait for a replacement or refund.

My daughters were devastated to not receive their iPads on Christmas morning. And we still have no resolution in sight.
I'm sick with worry that I'm going to have to foot the bill for the courier's mistake.

What are my options here? Surely I shouldn't have to wait for them to complete their 'shipping investigation' in order to receive the items I have paid for? Especially when I have been given multiple time frames of resolution, which have not been stuck to. I'm wasting countless hours calling and emailing for updates, as they keep promising to contact me with any progress, and they never do! I feel like I am getting fobbed off and have no idea what my rights are or where I stand on this matter. Any help would be much appreciated!

Yes, but look at it from ukmails point of view. 1 package has gone astray at their busiest time so they're not going to take a driver off the run to deal with it. I had a delivery on Friday tracking said there were 96 deliveries ahead of me and it came at 4pm. Your package probably equates to less than 1% on a single van.

The driver won't remember where he/she delivered a parcel a week ago in the week before Christmas. Some courier firms have GPS tracking so they can check the records of where the driver went.

Your contract is with Apple. If they didn't deliver to the correct address then they have to provide replacements.

Have you checked your order confirmation email - does it have the correct delivery address?

The problem will be resolved, but calling and emailing several times a day is just going to get people's backs up. Be realistic, understand that an investigation will take time over the holiday period, chase again after new year if they have not got back to you.

As for your "devastated" young daughters? First world problems.

At this point you have a choice of one of two paths; you can teach your daughters how to be drama queens and make mountains out of molehills by pandering to their devastation; or teach them that in real life sometimes things do not go to plan and what they are experiencing is not 'devastation' but actually slight disappointment (knowing that they will get their ipads as soon as feasibly possible).

Your choice - however someone describing themselves as being in 'absolute shock' over a parcel going to the wrong address may be an omen of the path chosen!

  • Wow, some pretty unhelpful and unsympathic people on this thread. Might want to think how you would feel if you had paid £700 for something and found out it had been delivered to someone else.
'First world problems' and parenting advice...why are you on a consumer rights thread if that is what you have to contribute? This person is asking for information on what their CONSUMER RIGHTS are, not for judgement or suggestions on handling her children's reactions. God help all of your children if this is how you teach them to help people asking for advice and information.
Merry Christmas and happy new year you bunch of bullies.

And you joined up under an alter ego just to add that?

a ukmail parcel I'm expecting hasn't had any tracking events since the 24th so perhaps they are still on holiday.

"devastated" and "I'm in absolute shock".

Perhaps the OP should have just asked for help and advice rather than over-egging the drama pudding.

My children don't need a sky fairy, I taught them how to handle slight disappointment without having to be drama queens.

Comical! You joined this forum EXCLUSIVELY to have a go at a bunch of random internet strangers because they were having a go at some other random internet stranger who posted about their daughters being devastated that some ipads have not yet arrived.

I mean I'd understand if OP had to foot the bill, but in a world where people clock off every single day I think it is a bit of an insult to say that your daughters are devastated that they don't yet have their ipads. I mean, if their mother/father had just died then yes! But not over some sodding ipads which OP will eventually get back!

If you are in fact the OP (you have similarish writing styles and you seem to be most passionate towards her cause) then I will just point out that you've kind of just proven people's point on here! Making a mountain out of a molehill :)

If you are not the OP then I look forward to you both contributing on this forum :)
