    Good afternoon everyone :santa2:

Well, it's just about all over in this house, the girls are upstairs catching up on some sleep, hubby is trying to make his new toy drone fly around the dining room and I am catching up with all your posts.

I had a lovely day with the family and am very grateful for that. I had to manage my expectations somewhat and some of our traditions needed to change as the girls are almost all grown up now. It's good though to grow and change and invent new ways of celebrating Christmas.

I had lots of lovely presents which were also useful so I am very pleased and the family loved their presents too. We all helped to put dinner on the table which was great and no one minded that I forgot the roast parsnips :).

My favourite present though is from my eldest DD and she has bought me an enormous mug that holds 2 cups of tea at once. Fantastic! Now when I ask for a bucket of tea, I can get one :rotfl:.

I have read about all your different Christmases and want to send you all such a load of love and thanks for being my virtual friends on here. Thank you for all your support this year as well as I battle with my agoraphobia and other issues. Next year I intend to fight harder and wiser so I can change and become healthy in mind, body and spirit.

Take care everyone and a very Merry Christmas to you all xxxxx

End of the day and all went well here. I survived Dr Who, though sipping a cheeky wee glass of cava helped.

Best present? Navy strength Edinburgh gin.
Second best present? Mackies tablet ice cream. :o

The second storm is on its way so it's back to battening the hatches. Now waiting for Maigret.
  • Evening folks. I have just had a much needed nap. Still feel stuffed after the most enormous lunch and munching my way through a box of chocs, accompanied by too many glasses of wine. Now I must do battle with the fridge and get all the leftovers in there somehow!

DS has just gone down to his new lady's for the evening so Mr TA and I now have a sofa apiece to sprawl on and get comfy for the evening. We all got some wonderful presents and DD, as always, spoilt us dreadfully. Two nights at country hotel with an 8 course tasting menu on one of the evenings! A couple of spa treatments thrown in and full use of the leisure facilities including hot tubs. Of course she got a telling off for spending so much money on us when she is always bemoaning the fact that she never has any!

Good news about the new arrival JACKIE and so pleased the wedding went off well. GERS I am so sorry your ex OH couldn't share your dreams of retirement in such beautiful surroundings. CATERINA you sound a bit happier today.

Have a nice evening folks and take care. I'm still hacking away and now my nose is running too but I am not letting it spoil Christmas! xx

TA thank you for asking, I am not in the dark place of last night, DH not too well still but managed to get some food in and fever not so raging, hope the night goes better than last night (3 changes of clothes and bedding). We got the duty doctor in, airways not affected thanks God, so hopefully he is past the worst.

My mother was really good all day on practical matters and also the usual difficult self but I managed to deflect a lot and we had a reasonable day.

    Good night.

  • Just wondering if any of you lovely folk have a recipie for turkey and ham pie please?
  • I make mine by saut!ing some sliced onion and mushrooms in a little oil, then I add some flour to make a roux, then add milk, making a white sauce, I add chopped turkey and ham.
I make mine as a plait using puff pastry, but shortcrust works just as well. Brush pastry with milk or beaten egg and cook until pastry is done, approx. 25 - 30 mins, gas 6 180 fan, by which time the inside will be hot through.
    Chin up, Titus out.
