in Techie Stuff
I have 2 gig of memory on my computer, using very little, but after I have been on the computer for an hour or so, I get not enough memory. I cleared cookies & delete history etc, get a short while more, and the same happens again. If I restart, back to working ok and the same happens again after a while. Any suggestions would be helpful ~ in VERY simple English would be appreciated, as techie stuff and my brain do not mix very well.

check the task manager and see what progs are using what memory
so hold alt, ctrl and delete down
then the task manager pops up
click on mem usage to put the most RAM intensive progs to the top
checked for spyware?
also download freeram
http://www.bysoft.com/
for free to either manually or automatically clear ram.
however somthings causing the issue as i run 2 gig and only use 20% in day to day runnnig0 -
what application gives you that msg, with 2GB of ram, it sounds spurious. Is your hard disk full?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Would that be a system memory warning or a virtual memory warning?
Both very different...To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0 -

Performance tab in task manager (physical memory).
If you have 2 gig i very much doubt its RAM you're running low of, unless you are runnign a program with a very severe memory leak or your encoding hi def video, playing a top end game and rendering in real time whilst browsing.0 -
Thanks to all for your help. My son is coming over tomorrow, so I'm going to get him to sort it with some luck.0

i would recommend getting ccleaner which is free - used to be called crap cleaner and it will take off all the junk off your hard disk
when you install programs the install program is left on the hard disk taking up space
this program used correctly will take crap/cookes/ remp files off
when i used this i would get at least 1gb back of hard disk space0 -
Now keep getting out of resources ~ so everything freezes0
