yes but it was a well known design fault of the 360. that is why they were forced to extend the guarantee to 3 years. they rushed it out too quickly to beat the ps3.

I'm not a particular fan of microsoft (although I would say that while the ps3 is the better spec wise hands down, 360 was the better gaming experience) - I have both consoles from last gen & current gen. But you're posting as if playstation did not have their own RROD (YLOD). Except sony denied it was a manufacturing flaw and did not extend the 1 year warranty they offered.

Both consoles have their pros and cons. But they also both have failures - as I said, a large extent of it is just luck.

The only requirement for private sales (ie when you are not acting in course of business/your profession) is that you have the right to sell the goods and that it matches its description.

So unless you say something like, its in great working order, will last years etc, you should be fine.

I think they might be More worried about angry man with baseball bat if it breaks.

The PS3 issue was much less widespread and I believe mainly with launch consoles. Overall my experience with PS3 was better. There were lies spread like psn was bad and Xbox live was much better. It was the reverse in my experience. Never had any connection issues with psn but would regularly have issues on Xbox live once America woke up.
Other differences, PS3 ran quietly while the 360 was like a hoover. PS3 had bluray, 360 didn't.
What to 360 did better was have a better launch. Sony messed up the launch of the ps3 and it took a while to get going.

    ^^ This ^^

And lets be honest, how much would a Gen 1 360 be worth anyway!

Will be selling a later gen 360 soon wont be giving that away!

You know, from reading the above, I can't help but get the impression you're a ps "fanboy" who is literally incapable of saying anything bad about ps and also of saying anything good about xbox.

Now if you were fawning all over ps2, then I'd understand. But not the ps3, so many areas it fell short.

In all fairness the post states that Sony messed up the PS3 launch and only really insinuates that the PSN was more reliable than the reputation would have you believe.

Both things I can agree on to be fair. That being said, it was blatantly obvious that the PS3 OS and interface was not built with online gaming and seamless multitasking in mind, it ran like a dog compared to the 360 OS and Live.

Owned both, had more or less equal connectivity issues with both, probably say Live edged PSN for quality (as it should being a paid service) however the 360 OS kicked the buttocks off the PS3 one. Much snappier and more responsive. I'd say from a hardware perspective the PS3 overall was more reliable, but again the YLOD issues were present but not reported to the hysteria of MS's RROD issues.

Over the course of the generation however I found the MS exclusives dried out and the PS3 went from strength to strength. Big reversal of fortune. Again, that's just personal preference but even objectively you can look and see what big-hitters Sony kept pulling out in the mid-long term lifespan of the PS3 which initially started horrendously.

Didn't think the post you responded to required a "fanboy" accusation at all.

I got a 360 first and owned it for about 18 month before I got a PS3. Not exactly what a ps fanboy would do. Xbox is good but really the only thing I like about it that you don't have on ps is gears of war. I did enjoy halo 3 multiplayer.

I had no issues with either operating system. And whether people want to believe it or not I only ever had network issues with the 360.

I remember the huge hack that brought the PSN down for ages - luckily I was moving house at the time so it didn't effect me at all and I got some free games for the "inconvenience".

To be honest, as it was a free service I gave the PSN a pass when I had issues. Since it's been supported by the paid PS Plus service it's improved a hell of a lot and the content is fantastic.

Haven't bothered with an Xbox One this gen, Sony has snared me.

Six of one, whilst it was more common for launch PS3s to have issues they were still mainstream its just Sony and their fanboys loved to make people focus on the 360s failures over the PS3, not calling you a fanboy by the way, saying fanboys spread lies.

I was never a heavy user but had my launch 360 for 4 years never had an issue, my launch PS3 had a habit of overheating and sounding like a hoover and crashing, even after I took it apart and repasted it and cleaned the fans (that weren't dirty in first place)

Whilst the PS3 had bluray is was locked down and for first few years more expensive than hd dvd, most of my films were imported specialist (like anime) so the PS3 refused to play them.

360 played far more filetypes than PS3 though often required a tiny update.

And PSN wasn't bad as much as the far worst experience, did you forget the major hack and it being down for months? Everyone I knew including myself had terrible slow updates or downloads, I had a 20 meg connection at the time and was lucky if I had a constant 1 meg download, 360 most of the time maxed out the download.

I am not a fanboy but still have a bitter taste about how I was (wrongfully) banned off PSN after not going online for months then going online with a PS3 I just bought used, having a few laggy online games then banned for "cheating" I can only assume the people who lost the games that lagged assumed I was using a lag switch, and as a result lost about £400 of PSN games, there were still physically on my hard drive but deactivated/turned into demos and as the only games I bought were multiplayer they were useless even if they did work.
