Has anybody won an ITV competition lately (2016 winter??)

I entered won last week (and it says I will be called within a week). It was for the £60k and Aus holiday. My mum thinks its a scam and nobody really wins and they do it to get money. I REALLY want to win so hopefullt I get called tomorrow.

Basically has anybody here won cash+holiday in recent months because all the threads are from years ago :/

I entered online if that helps

You have posted this in the wrong place, it should be in the chat corner - move request sent.

No they are not a scam but your chances of winning are very poor.
Yes they do it for the money, making millions every year from competitions that each have hundreds of thousands of entries or more.

I've just been snooping on another well known coming forum and there have been 2 winners who have had big wins via ITV postal entry in the past few months.

Chances of winning are low, but you've got to be in it to win it and all that...

People definitely do win them, It's like the X-Factor, they don't ask you to vote by phone so they can gauge the popularity of a contestant, it's all about money ... hence the second and third places usually do better than the winners as far as getting a record deal and making money is concerned ('cause Simon, or whoever will give anyone a record deal if they think they can make money from them ... bit off on a tangent there, sorry)

I always thought they had to do a Free Option or they're delving into the realms of gambling, which they need a licence for ... with the postal entries, do you need to send them money? or is it just an "answers on a postcard please" type thing?

Postcards are classed as the free entry route and you just send your name and phone number on a postcard
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

  • My biggest concern with the postcard method is that you are relying on Royal Mail to deliver the postcards and then I assume they are entered manually onto some computer system which you don't receive any confirmation of entry.

Unfortuantely I had a couple return (even though I had stuck a name and address/phone number label on at an angle). I now write TO really large and even underline the address - otherwise a waste of a stamp

You do not need to put your address on ITV comps only name and phone number.
I do it just for fun and whatever I win is a bonus

Some info from another thread to give you some idea of the odds

    From the ITV accounts
Our digital engagement has grown significantly in the year, delivering 100 million votes across our big entertainment shows and 40 million paid competition entries

40,000,000 paid entries, potentially there are all the 3 for 2 and pay for 1 get 1 free entries as well - plus the free postal entries
