Like others have said the software and equipment is usually expensive. I've got a Chinese copy of a diagnostic unit that can do it that cost me £50 which I connect to my £40 windows 10 tablet.
It's saved myself, family and friends over the years in diagnostic fees so it's well worth getting one yourself.

Wafty food. but then again, I wouldn't expect anything less from the spare key holder.
    Anyone else have anything useful

    WTAF?

You post at 7:13. You get a correct answer at 7:33. That's not good enough for you?

You know there's nothing to stop you doing your own research as well right? Like, maybe... I don't know... perhaps RTFM? Or maybe; and this is pretty radical; using Google?

When I was doing a bit of driving for a car rental company, last thing one evening we had a transporter of brand new cars delivered. We were instructed to park them up on the open forecourt, keep the torch keys and throw the others away into the big outside bin. All the cars were still there the following morning.

That was an amateur shower, normally the car's are only supplied with one key when delivered from PDI, the rest of the keys are held by central admin and re-united with the car when it's sold on or returned to the maker, whichever is applicable, similarly if the main key is lost at least the rest of them will be in one place only so a spare can be sent out quickly.

This was 25 years ago and the cars were Ford Sierras, so in a time before chipped keys with remote locking, when you could get a key supplied, cut and fully working for less than £10.
