Sold car caught speeding - help

Hello
I sold my car last October via gumtree. Filled in the v5 and sent off to DVLA. Today I received letter from police in another county to say I've been caught speeding doing 60 in a 30 on the electronic tag system.
I went on the website to nominate the current owner who I sold to (I scanned the v5 form and emailed to myself before I originally posted it last year) but when I enter the address it says incorrect, I've googled the address and it doesn't bring the company up (was Goole Autowreckers).
What do I do ? I don't remember getting anything back from DVLA when I sent the V5 form and I've checked with DVLA and the car tax ran out in March but mot'd till next year.
When I sold the car it had lots of problems and the man said he was using the car for parts, obviously not !
Any help ? Thanks

Ok so I've just spoke to my partner who's name the car was in and we had a parking fine in April so he sent he went on DVLA website and completed the form to say it isn't our car as they can't have received the v5c form and he had an email from DVLA to say he's no longer the registered keeper.
Shall I fill the form in and send a copy of that with it from the DVLA ?
Thanks0 -

Ok thanks we'll do it tomorrow, it's dated 17/12/2016. Was doing 60 in a 30 at 4am! Definetly not us haha.
Just can't believe the buyer made up an address and even a company vat code!
I'll send them copy of DVLA email and the copy of v5c form.
Thanks for your help.0 -

What will happen if we SORN it ? It's not been taxed since March so I'm surprised we haven't had a letter bout that !
Will the police be ok with the proofs we send them do you think ?0 -

What used to happen with the pnc was that the previous owner would remain on the computer until the new owner notified the dvla.
It would be marked up as 'previous owner told dvla no longer the keeper', however the 'previous owners details wouldn't be deleted until a new owner came forward.
Not sure if this is still the case.0 -

Don't SORN it, this car is not yours to do anything with.
As long as you send lots of proof and a clear covering letter (keep a copy of the FCN) then we can't tell you for sure that the Police will be 'OK' with it but you need to tell them everything, right down to a description of the person and what was said:When I sold the car it had lots of problems and the man said he was using the car for parts, obviously not !PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Quick update : got another letter from police saying they are aware we aren't current owners but do we have any info on who has car now.
I'll send the letter back with copy of the v5c (even though the details look to have been made up) and pray they catch whoever it is .
The guy who bought it I had phone calls with last October but my phone bills only go back a year so can't get hold of the number.
Should the new owner have informed DVLA car was there's ? Thanks everyone.0 -
no it looks like the v5 was never received by the dvla , , how they are taxing it is a mystery , unless they are using the v55 suplimentSave a Rachael
