If I type in the registration number they put down it finds it.

in that case they are going to ask the DVLA for that vrn details

go to halfords / eurocar parts or even dvla and check if that number exists

Be careful, there is a theory they sometimes do this to get the driver to appeal on this point and out them selves, and also save a look up fee.

But if you tell them that it's the wrong number they will just correct it and continue, remember they are just scammers sending an invoice and they are not regulated like authorities are.

  • I can't appeal online with the correct registration, I have to use the wrong registration.
The number that they have is indeed a valid registration number it belongs to a Peugeot and my car is a Vauxhall.
I didn't want to just tell them the correct registration that's why I came on here so as not to jump the gun.

If they do genuinely have the wrong number (and remember their tame Muppet attendants may have reading problems) then the poor Peugeot owner will have the pain.
  • Surly they would confirm the registration from the photo before acting on it..??

Right, so wait for the NTK. WAIT.

Yes, probably, but then the NTK will not match the details on the PCN and they can't have 'keeper liability'!

So wait and you will get the evidence you need.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
