What we noticed was that she was that when she was asking the questions she was not giving us options. for example, she ask if my husband could plan a route to "familiar places" which we said yes, he can plan to go to the shops that are round the corner for exmple. she quickly noted this. that will score him ) points.

Too late now but, if someone has a condition that is variable, it's best to always answer with some form of "No/No always/Sometimes/etc".

Once you say "Yes", that box gets checked and any further description of variable days usually gets ignored.

I'm glad it's over for you. There's isnt much anyone else can add or tell you now. You just have to wait for a decision. Good luck.

    Agreed

It's easy to say, I know, but you can't change what happened now so try not to worry too much about it. You may well find that the decision turns out to be okay.

I hope it works out well for you and your husband

Totally agree. If you can't do something regularly, reliably and safely without pain and discomfort always say no you CAN'T do it. As i said before nothing you can do now but wait for the decision. Hopefully it goes in his favour and you get the award he wants. Do let us know the outcome.

Do they have cameras outside the buildings? really? Well in that case they can see in 10 meters my husband stopped twice. is that really allowed? apologies for my ignorance and naivety,,,,,
I never said they have cameras outside the buildings but they do watch you from the minute you arrive to the minute you leave. Infact they watch everything you do. When i had my assessment i went inside my bag to get some evidence out. This was noted on the assessment report. They even wrote exactly what i was dressed like including how my hair was done :o Thankfully for me everything that was said was 100% the truth. This isn't always the case with a lot of people though.
  • Thank you for all for your kind words. I know we need to try and put it behind us now till decision day but it is just the frustration that we were not "allowed" to respond properly. Will wait till end of next month....hopefully sooner.
  • Crikey poppy big brother is alive and well and trying to catch the benefit cheats who used to sign on after leaving their posh cars around the corner.
I suppose it's evidence that covers the staff too against abuse or false claims. (that's assuming you can figure out how to claim for help)xx

Thank you Poppy. Well hopefully will come through good as we did indeed say the truth it is just we were not able to say the whole truth...

If this was the case, all assessments would be recorded while it's actually quite difficult to record them. Only audio recording is allowed.

For a PIP assessment, the claimant has to provide the equipment to record two audio tapes or CDs simultaneously.

For ESA, equipment will be provided but it may delay the assessment and it may be requested but then not available or working on the day of the assessment.
  • I believe that you can request a copy of the report that the assessor has written. This can be sent out before a decision is made.

Do you think we should ask for a copy of it before getting the results? I guess it could be a good thing to be prepare for when the award letter arrives?

You you can ring and ask. However the decision maker is the only one to make the decision on any award. What is said in the assessment report is just to advise the DM. The report may not reflect the decision. Sometimes it's good to ask for a copy before you get the decision, sometimes it's not.
