Idle speculation and would be M.D.s aren't going to help your 'friend'.

While he has to notify the DVLA if he has a pacemaker fitted it does not say he cannot drive.

He may well have notified them but been allowed to continue driving.

They check up on medical history. Talking from experience here.
  • This is also a good read. But read it carefully.

please confirm with the DVLA instead of arguing on the forum. We are not medical experts here. But we can provide guidance as to where to get further help.

My husband's friend has a pacemaker and uses insulin, but is allowed to drive.
  • A heart condition doesn't automatically mean you shouldn't drive.
Having a pacemaker doesn't mean you can't drive either.

Like I said before, read it carefully please. And if maggy what you said before is true and your friend was hospitalised with a pacemaker already fitted, he shouldn't be driving until the underlying cause has been identified.

And for God's sake, confirm with the DVLA rather than us arguing on the forum. Speculation isn't going to help your friend at all. Risking his life isn't either.

You're making some very strong statememts based on very little information.

If OP still has concerns then I suggest she speaks directly to the person, rather than sneaking behind their backs to the DVLA. That could result in the person losing their licence until their case has been reviewed, which can take several months, on the basis of a frivolous report.

I never suggested going behind her friends back - that's ridiculous. But you do have a valid point about having a decent conversation with the friend first.
