Pregnant driver receives PNC from UKPS (NW) Ltd

So I have written to both NHS trusts who operate on the site and I haven't had a response yet.

I have continued to receive phone calls and texts from TNC chasing me. I have had three letters from them in total which I have kept but ignored. The last one said if I didn't pay within 7 days they would be advising UKPS to take me to the small claims court.

Yesterday I received a missed call from a Glasgow number. Today it called me again and I was unable to answer. They left a voicemail saying it was the legal team at TNC and that I had to call them back before 5pm today. They informed me that I had to settle with them today or it would be referred to the small claims court.

I asked that I had written to the trust concerned and was awaiting a reply. After that I hung up.

They will go to any length to get me to pay the fine which stands at £149. £79 of it being administrative charges

Stop phoning the debt collectors! No need to "obey" their demands to call them!

    You should simply ignore them

As you were advised in #2

Your opening post was on the 21st of December, it is now the 31st og January, while i know Christmas/New years is a busy time you should really be reading up on the parking charge, to get an understanding of what you have, and what you need to do to get it cancelled.
You are still referring to it as a fine, which leads me to suspect that you are still in panic mode.

I gather you are aware of the NHS guidance on parking, and you have doubled down on your efforts to contact the NHS trust in question as well as the PALS service at the Hospital, plus as a volunteer at the Hospital you have also been in touch with your line manager./supervisor/whatever/who ever you liaise with, and told them about your parking issue at the same time as informing them of the NHS guidance, these are not fines, and other issues surrounding the private paring industry.

Make sure they have your address - as registered keeper.

If you don't and they do court using the old address, you can get a default judgement leading to a CCJ without knowing it.
  • Hello OP - just reading with interest your thread. Whilst I was 8 months pregnant last year, I had a similar situation with UKPS but on a retail park where I parked in a disabled spot to go to Boots to pick up a prescription (after coming from the hospital with a pregnancy related painful condition). I was in Boots for less than 10 minutes - I received a windscreen PCN.

Following advice here, I complained to the manager at Boots who was thoroughly disgusted. She got onto the PPC straight away and arranged for the PCN to be cancelled - I received written confirmation of this in email and never heard anything more. Half_way is right - complain to PALS - they HAVE to respond to your complaint !!! Some hospitals actually have a PALS office that you can go and see them directly
  • Thank you for your replies.

Quentin - today was the second time I have spoken to them. The first time I refused to pass through the security questions. I answered the call as I had a voicemail left saying that they are taking me to the stalls claims court. He started to reel a lot of info off and I stopped him mid sentence to say it is being sorted by the trust in question

Half-way - yes you are right I am still in panoc mode. As a law abiding citizen I'm finding it quite stressful. I have ignored all correspondence with them until today when they said they were referring me to the small claims court. I have tried to contact the PALS office today. No answer. They do have a walk in office I may pay a visit to. Il be seeing a non exec of the board next week and il be sure to mention it to him.

Please can you confirm to me what he NHS guidance is??as a volunteer i don't have ready access to the policies

I'm so miffed. I did report to reception on the day that if there was an issue with my parking to pull me out of the meeting I was in. It was very evident I struggled to walk and was heavily pregnant. I have since giving birth returned to the site and parked in the 'normal' bays as I can squeeze out of my car in small spaces again

What happened when you sent the letter suggested, telling them that under the DPA you were serving a formal Section 10 'objection to processing' your phone number data and that they must only write to you at xxxxxxxxxx (address)? That's what I meant by post #8.

them you do not consent for them to store your telephone number which is your personal data

But are not most peoples' telephone numbers "stored" in a directory CM?
    Thirty years ago yes, DP.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

We are telling you that they are to be ignored.

Their voicemails are intended to frighten you. But when you respond to them all that does is to encourage them to keep harassing you knowing you bite at the bait.

Never ring debt collectors or the ppc.

    Ignore debt collectors!

Only take action over the ppc if they do take legal action

Concentrate all your efforts on getting your hospital to get it cancelled.

It would be useful to see one of the UKPS (NW) signs. Historically they have used a format which doesn't actually offer a contract to park. That might just be useful to know.

UKPS (NW) ltd have been selling their old accounts to MIL Collections so the OP would be wise to keep an eye out for the usual Notice of Assignment letter.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

    According to this

this PPC is a tiddler, swimming around in the shallows.

I would not be inclined to get too worried, their net worth is about as much as a three year old Astra.
