Hi magenta I agree it is complicated
Acted and also the dwp staff often don't know the full story themselves0 -
But your neighbour's circumstances are different, as they are being transferred from DLA, because they had not reached 65 in April 2013 . Those who were 65 stay on DLA.Okay. My neighbour was approaching the age of 66 when she received the PiP letter. Before that she was getting DLA, when she contacted the DWP about applying for attendance allowance she was told that that was being phased out and that she would just continue to get DLA. So imagine her shock when she got the PiP letter!
As you say it's not something straightforward!
People really don't know what to expect.:(
The OP is referring to a new claimant.0 -

I posted the situation that I was aware of.
Very kindly another poster gave me more information which made me aware that my information was incorrect for different people in different circumstances.
The forums on here are to exchange information, to let people know things they didn't know before and to help.
The forums are not here to accuse other people of giving the wrong facts as if they were a 5 year old in the playground who hadn't bothered to read the rest of the posts.:smileyheaMagenta0 -
Please note that I did not post false information..
You told the OP "There is no age limit for PIP".
Had the OP's relative acted on your advice and applied after his 65th birthday, he would have found himself been denied a benefit he is currently able to claim.
Benefits are complex, if you post incorrect information you are really not helping people understand their entitlement which is the purpose of this forum.
You could have checked and googled:
http://www.ageuk.org.uk/Documents/EN-GB/Factsheets/FS87_Personal_independence_payment_fcs.pdf?dtrk=true
You could have prefixed your comment with "I think".
But because you posted a definitive "There is no age limit for PIP"; I do think PersianCatLady's comment is valid. I think you should accept her comment and not try to justify your misleading post with false reasoning"Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0
