So you don't want a diesel then.

Why not? I expect i should know that. I have always had diesels, they seem to last longer and have better miles per gallon.
  • It's not cheap tax at £295, and 26-33mpg, but we're on our second Grand Voyager.
Sit's 7 in comfort, all the seats fold flat (or are removable)giving you an 8ft by 4ft load area and even with all the seats up, there's a decent sized boot.
  • Kia whateveritscalled van-bus thing?

Mitsubishi Delica, Its going to be fairly old but buy one from an enthusiast and it will ooulive many modern sprog buses and cost a lot less to maintain.

So you dont really need a 7 seater, a Focus estate will probably server you better and for a lot less money.

  • I have a 2008 Seat Alhambra,we generally leave all 7 seats in but with the rear two down more often than not. There is still loads of space, the rear seats fold in half and we just bung stuff on top. Even if we have split the kids up and one is sitting in one of the rears, it just means that there is a lot of space in the middle row to store stuff as well.
Another bonus is that each of the middle and rear seats is independent, a full size seat for an adult. None of this rubbish middle half seat that you often get. They are the old school ones though in the rear, you have to actually lift them out if you wanted to fully utilise the boot space properly. However the plus size is that if you remove all five (!) seats from middle and rear then you have a truly humungous load lugging space for Ikea/tip etc

You need a garage to store them in cos the seats are massive.
  • I have an 04 touran, bought in 2010. Very reliable and practical- barely any repairs needed until maybe 2-3 years ago, and only a few hundred a year since. Definitely recommended! It's the five seat version, but based on that if I had the seven seater and used all seven there would be no boot space. Looking to get a bigger car to accommodate an impending fourth child and based on the touran experience am really keen on a sharan or alhambra if one can be found in budget.
  • Thanks everyone. I have a lot of ideas now. Just got to find a dealer i can trust now.

definately need a 7 seater. I really cant drive with wars going on in the back seat! Three children with autism - not good on long trips if they dont have their own space. But, i have seen some cars where you can push the seats forwards and back separately so that might work. It would be good to beable to tske my nephew places with us though.
  • If you're in the NW then Fords of Winsford in Cheshire and Trafford are highly regarded as decent with no hard sell and haggling !!!!!!!!.
