Huge long shot but can anyone identify this water tank or give a rough age?

what do you mean "identify"?
it is a standard hot water cylinder tank as used on a central heating system that uses them. As for age who knows, how think is the insulation? If very thin (say 1 inch or less) then it could date from the 1960's as they came with insulation even then, just not very thick insulation.
is it still connected to the pipework as it looks like the top is now open?0 -
can anyone identify this water tank
That's mine!0 -
OK - seriously, as booksurr says it's a central heating hot water cylinder. It stores the hot water that the boiler heats up, then dispenses it when you run the hot taps.
As it is an insulated model I'd age it 1970s or later (mine has no insulation - it's just a metal tank - apart from the 5 layers separately purchased and manually tied on!)
These cylinders usually have an electrically operated immersion heater as well which works if the boiler is off but looking at the top it seems there is not one on yours.0 -
Thank you very much this is of huge help!0

Landlord is claiming to the court that she replaced the hot water tank ten years ago. The hot water tank broke continuously during my tenancy and if I can prove that it most definitely is not new it would help my case.0

Ten years isn't "new"
My tank is 1980's and not the insulated sort at all. Is say this one was 90's onward, I didn't think they came with insulation in the 70's, but there is no way from looking at that knowing its age.
Why does it matter if it wasnew ten years ago? Isn't this issue if it broke continuously or not ?0 -
Firstly, that is a 'hot water cylinder' not a 'tank'. The tank is likely to be in the attic - so are you sure this is the item she is claiming to have replaced?
Secondly, I said it looked '1970s or later'. I am NOT an expert so cannot tell whether it's 70s, 80s, 90s or later. I simply guessed that because earlier than the 70s cylinders did not come with fitted insulation (eg they were just metal cylinders like mine!).0 -

I was hoping to rip her defense to shreds. She claims it shouldn't have kept breaking as it was only installed ten years ago.0 -

What broke exactly?0 -
When you say break what do you mean?
It's a water cylinder. Did it leak?0
