Your expectations of what a landlord can do are far to high they certainly have to do repairs in a reasonable time frame but one night in a cold house is certainly acceptable.

Have you ever rented a property before as your reaction to this comes across as quite naive. If you owned the property for example do you actually think you would have been able to get the repairs done that night because it's highly unlikely.

Where your landlord lives is none of your business it doesn't make him a miracle worker. Is the property managed by the letting agency because if it is that should have been your first port of call it's what they are paid to do.

You chose to go to a hotel so it's up to you to pay for that. Are you going to do this every time something goes wrong? Antagonising you landlord could lead to the issue of an s21 being issued coming up to the end of your tenancy. Your husband needs to let go of his principles in this case he is wrong.

Things go wrong in property and need repairing if you or your landlord in this case cannot do this yourself then you are dependent on tradesmen and they can't just drop everything at a split seconds notice.
