M&S Money CC - no credit limit given?

Hi,

I've applied, and been accepted, for a M&S Money CC. However, the application acceptance letter doesn't tell me what my credit limit will be.

I've phoned their (Indian) call centre, and was told that I have to sign the application form they've sent me and wait for my card, then I can phone them up and find out my credit limit.

At which point I may well find that the limit is insufficient and I'll need to cancel, and apply for another card.

Is this normal? Can anyone else who's got a card tell me the limits they've been allowed, so I have some idea of what to expect? I would think most people apply for a card with either a purchase or a BT in mind; in both cases one surely needs to know the credit limit asap?

Thanks

J

There was another thread about this but !!!!!! me if I can find it. It said the credit limit is only decided once they are about to post out the card and not when the application is accepted. Although what quite changes in the interim is anyone's guess.

The other thing I've just noticed is that their website offers 9 months 0%... but the agreement they've sent me to sign says it's only six months.

I've sent them an email querying this, but my initial impression of M&S Money is not an encouraging one. I'd appreciate other customer's comments asap!

I had the same issue with M?S over limits. Spoke to Indian call centre, said unable to let me know limits. Called again, asked to be transfered to Chester. Told me on phone limit of £7,000, all available for bt @ 9m 0%
    Don't waste your words I don't need,
    Anything from you.
    I don't care where you've been or,

I've found usually with credit cards, you actually find out the credit card limit at the very last minute, when you receive the card attached to the relevant letter.

I'm expecting to hear about, and hopefully get, my M&S card at some point in the future (6 - 8 weeks they said) having got it in the shop to get 10% of my purchases while I was at it.

I was told that I would have to phone and activate the card and then ask for the balance transfer dept who will tell me what my limit is. I was also told that the 6 month deal mentioned in the shop brochure was out of date and that is was now 9 months. I'm now hoping I don't have to debate this point on the phone with someone in India! £4K limit would do me nicely as my 'tart debt' is reducing very well :) Will be glad just to have it all on one card again following my Barclays limit fiasco.
I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.

Just got mine this morning. Phoned India to activate, surprisingly good service, good clear and concise English used. Credit limit given as £4500 over the phone.
It's 9 months on balance transfer and purchases, but transfers have to be done in first 30 days from activation.

She couldn't tell me the M+S bank account number to set up monthly online payments from my bank.... however i remember thats on this board somewhere if i could only find it ....

Usually if you do Internet banking there is a seacrch facility for all Credit Card accounts and you can set up your DD from there.

    I did with Barclays.

Received my card - £5500 limit but for 6 months only. Customer services wouldn't budge despite my applying online for 9 months. Hmph

My wife has just sent them an e-mail (replying to the acceptance e-mail they sent her), as we'd spotted this mistake on the T & C's sent with the credit agreement for signature.

Not only did it say 0% on BT's for 6 months, but it also said there was no 0% introductory period for purchases - a 15.9% rate would be applied from the outset.

Just shows, it pays to read T & C's thoroughly - EVERY TIME THEY SEND YOU SOME!
