Ha ha! Good one. I know you're joking because if you're asking that kind of question seriously on MSE rather than an actual aviation website you would clearly be an idiot.0

Putting all the other stuff aside, getting a pilots licence isn't cheep, getting instrument rating adds to the cost and without it you will be restricted to VFR meaning you will be grounded whenever the sky is overcast, you will also be restricted to flying during daylight hours.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

More importantly - you have to be going to and from places that have somewhere to land it. There might be enough space in the supermarket carpark to put a microlight down but you'd have to agree it with them in advance, fill out 73 Risk Assessments and convince them it was worth it for the small amount of shopping you could actually carry away in it (i.e. one small rucksack full?)
Perhaps some sort of mixture is the answer.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVE_Mizar or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parajet_Skycar or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moller_M400_SkycarI need to think of something new here...0 -
An unrestricted private pilot's microlight licence isn't as expensive as you would think and most people should be able to obtain this for around the £3k mark (providing of course that you pass the required medical).interstellaflyer wrote: »Putting all the other stuff aside, getting a pilots licence isn't cheep, getting instrument rating adds to the cost and without it you will be restricted to VFR meaning you will be grounded whenever the sky is overcast, you will also be restricted to flying during daylight hours.0 -

A microlight will of coarse be grounded in anything other than good weather and I guess VFR would apply.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
I think we'll see a commercially available people carrying drone before the end of the decade.

And the cost of the pilots licence to fly one?I don't think what most people consider an aircraft is the way forward but I will tell you what is.

About USD14,000 plus an engine, brand new. It folds up to fit in a garage and has phenomenal short take off/landing capabilities.0
