Cheapest aircraft
The roads have become unviable for me. Cycling is OK for short distances. Is there any form of aircraft (microlights cant be that costly?) that costs no more than a typical car?
Sometimes my advice may not be great, but I'm not perfect and I do try my best. Please take this into account.

Airfix used to be reasonable.0

Aircraft are even more bother.
You need a special licence to drive them in the dark, you have to pay people to let you land them on their dirt, the boys in the big aeroplanes moan if you fly within 10 miles of them because it is a "near miss" and I'm sure you have to tell people where you are going all the time.
They also need continual expensive servicing, as the air is like a giant managed motorway, with no hard shoulder to stop on.
I'd spend the money hiring a chaufeuse and let her bother about the traffic, speed cameras, one way systems and parking.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

I don't think what most people consider an aircraft is the way forward but I will tell you what is.
A hovercraft. It's versatile enough to meet most needs and is a real bonus if you live in an area that might flood.0 -
If you ask Santa nicely.... http://www.neimanmarcus.com/en-gb/NM/FANTASY-GIFT-8/cat56140885/c.cat
You're gonna need a big parking space though - so you could try....http://www.martinjetpack.com/ or http://jetpackaviation.com/I need to think of something new here...0 -
1. Take a sheet of A4 paper
2. Fold the paper in half.
3. Unfold and then fold the corners into the center line.
4. Fold the top edges to the center.
5. Fold the plane in half.
6. Fold the wings down to meet the bottom edge of the planes body.0 -

Fact is the authorities want people in cars or in public transport, the second someone finds something faster or cheaper, they crack down on it.
For example:
GoPed, electric or petrol, illegal.
"Hoverboards", illegal and declared dangerous (on the basis of less than 50 out of several million going up in flames and not even ok UK soil).
**Ebikes, they can't get around the law that makes these legal, because it specifies it must have pedals to be classed as a bicycle, BUT I reckon it's only a matter of time before these are banned too, especially with cheap import versions coming into the country and with people modifying them so they no longer "pedal assist".

If people started buying helicopter backpacks, they'd soon get banned.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

AFAIK GoPeds and hoverboards have not been "cracked down on".
"The authorities" have simply pointed out that they don't comply with existing legislation.0
