Should I report this person - and how ?
My Father (himself in his mid 80's) tells me that one of his "aquaintances", who is 96 years old and still driving - has become a danger to himelf and to others on the road
He has had several collisions with other vehicles including a few weeks ago - when he reversed out of a car park on to a main road and was hit by a van who didn't expect a car to be reversing out in front of him....
Somehow, he avoided the police being called and his insurance company are not aware !!
He appears to have become senile - he drove 30 miles to a nearby town and then denied it
His family have all disappeared off the scene
Obviously he is unfit to be driving - but denies that he has a problem
What should we do ?
I thought of an anonymous email to the police - but is that fair ?
We would prefer it if he accepted that his days on the road were over - but after 70 + years of driving, that will be difficult/impossible to do !

To be fair, on the first point (collision with the van), the van driver was equally liable ... he should have been aware of the surroundings, and a vehicle exiting a drive is an expected occurrence.
However, aren't elderly drivers (70+?) supposed to get "fitness to drive" notes/certificates from their GP, and pass this on the DVLA? Has anyone tried approaching the GP about this?0 -

And say what? You can't just ask for someones medical records.
Personally, I'd try contact his family in the first instance, failing that, give 101 and the DVLA a ring and see if either are bothered. The guy clearly shouldn't be on the road if you/your dad have this level of concern over it.0 -
I have concerns over a person's fitness to drive and I wish to tell the DVLA

There appears to be no legal requirement for any assessment - simply reapply for a licence every 3 years from age 70 !!!
Anyway, he is clearly unfit to drive now.0 -
Report him to The DVLA and police before he seriously injures himself or others or kills someone. You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.
